Kyle Blaser

Blaser has made history guiding the Oklahoma City University mens golf team. Blaser led the Stars to their 10th NAIA championship, prevailing by eight strokes and erasing a seven-shot deficit May 27 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. Blaser has won more NAIA mens golf championships than any coach (10). He has been the NAIA national coach of the year nine times, also the most ever by anyone. OCU has also won 11 regional titles and 18 Sooner Athletic Conference championships in 20 seasons under Blaser. In 2015-16, Blaser led Oklahoma City to its 10th national championship among six tournament victories. In winning the SAC title, the Stars set the program record for shots under par in 54 holes (34) and the SAC Championships scoring record (282-272-276830). In 10 events, the Stars also picked up two runner-up finishes. OCU has 100 wins under Blaser entering the 2016-17 season. In his time at OCU, Blaser has coached five NAIA individual champions and national players of the year, two NAIA individual runners-up, 75 all-Americans, five four-time all-Americans, two Phil Mickelson award winners as NAIA freshman of the year, 25 NAIA scholar-athlete award winners, eight CoSIDA academic all-Americans, six all-Nicklaus selections, six NAIA Region VI champions and players of the year, 12 conference individual champions and 12 SAC players of the year. Blaser has been inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame and the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame. He guided the United States finest junior players against 11 countries from around the world in the 2007 Toyota World Junior Golf Cup. Several former Stars have turned professional and compete in tours around the world. OCU alum Tyrone Van Aswegen has been on the PGA TOUR since 2013. OCU started its womens program in 2000-01, and the Stars immediately became a powerhouse under Blasers guidance. OCU finished as NAIA runner-up and captured nine tournament titles, including the NAIA Region VI and SAC championships. Two womens golfers became all-Americans. Blaser coached at Jenks High School (Okla.) in 1996. In his tenure there, Jenks won the conference title, regional title and Class 5A state championship. In 1996, Blaser was named Oklahoma Golf Coaches Association Regional Representative. Blaser and his wife Krista have sons named Blake, Carson and Chase.
