Head Coach
Justin Ensign became Oklahoma City University's head men’s wrestling coach prior to the 2021-22 season. The Stars have won four Sooner Athletic Conference titles and was runner-up in 2025 in Ensign's four seasons so far. All four teams finished in the NAIA Top 20, including a program-best third place in 2026. A four-time conference coach of the year and 2026 NWCA Coach of the Year, Ensign has coached 13 All-Americans, 31 conference champions, 38 All-Conference winners and five conference freshmen of the year at OCU. In 2023-24, Ensign guided the Stars to a 6-5 dual meet record and had four Individual Conference Champions and six NAIA National Tournament Qualifiers. Ensign's team went on to win AMC/SAC Championship and led the Stars to placing 16th at the NAIA National Tournament. At season's end, OCU was granted with two NAIA All Americans in Cade Manion who placed fifth at nationals and Drake Vannoy who came in seventh. Ensign was named the 2023-24 SAC Coach of the Year and Finalist for NWCA National Coach of the Year. Ensign joined the Stars after 11 years leading the Central Missouri wrestling program as its head coach. Central Missouri annually challenged some of the top programs in the nation the previous decade. Ensign guided 10 qualifiers for the NCAA Division II Championships with five earning all-American status and one taking two national championships. Frank Cagnina took the 2014 and ’15 149-pound national titles as well as Central Region wrestler of the year. The Mules posted two top-20 national finishes, including the top finish in program history in 2014-15 (11th). Ensign directed 17 all-region wrestlers. Ensign’s program achieved in the classroom as well as on the mat. Nineteen Central Missouri wrestlers earned National Wrestling Coaches Association academic all-American and 46 became academic all-conference. Ensign also succeeded in engaging the community, organizing two annual alumni events, including an alumni golf outing. Ensign led a large fundraising campaign towards a new wrestling facility. Prior to becoming Central Missouri head coach, Ensign served two years as graduate assistant to legendary Mules coach Robin Ersland. During those two years, Central Missouri made the top 25 in the national tournament each year (18th and 22nd) and had five all-Americans. Ensign began his coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater, Wagner College, in Staten Island, N.Y. Ensign directed two third-place wrestlers in the NCAA East Region. Ensign spent four years on the mat for Wagner. He was named team most valuable player two times and spent two seasons ranked in the top five in the Colonial Athletic Association. He was also a two-year team captain, and two-time Iron Man award winner. Ensign was a four-year starter, twice at both 141 and 149 pounds. The Cherry Hill, N.J., native earned his bachelor’s degree in childhood education and sociology in 2007, and earned his master’s in sports management from Central Missouri in spring 2011. Stevens has been promoted to Oklahoma City University head women's wrestling coach. Stevens had spent the past two seasons as assistant coach on OCUs coaching staff. During that time, OCU produced six national champions, 26 all-Americans and a 59-17 dual record. In 2015-16, OCU finished runner-up in the Womens College Wrestling Association Championships with three national champions and nine all-Americans. The Stars went 16-5 with a runner-up showing in the NWCA National Duals. OCU owns WCWA championships won in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. The Stars had three all-Americans to finish 13th in the NAIA Championships last season. OCU won the NAIA Central Qualifying Group Tournament title while going 16-4 in duals. Stevens came to the Stars from Tulsa Union High School, where he was an assistant coach. Stevens had been at Union the past season. In 2013-14, Union had three state placers, including Chance Wenglewski, the runner-up at 195 pounds, in the Class 6A state tournament. Union finished sixth place in the team standings and reached the semifinals of the dual state tournament. Stevens other coaching experience has been at Westmoore High School in Oklahoma City and Moore West Junior High the previous five years. At Westmoore, Stevens helped produce a state champion and multiple state placers. Stevens guided 10 state champions and a team state champ at Moore West. On Team Oklahoma, Stevens has been serving as team director, leading the team to the freestyle national championship in the Junior National Duals in June at Abe Lemons Arena. Stevens represents Oklahoma in the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Stevens earned his bachelor of arts degree in communications from Fort Hays State (Kan.). Stevens wrestled on the collegiate level for three years at Fort Hays. As a high school wrestler, he posted a 107-13 record, became a state champion and all-stater while placing multiple times in the state tournament at Junction City, Kan. He is married (Kelle). C.J. Campbell
Assistant Coach
Campbell will take over the helm of the mens wrestling program at Oklahoma City University this year. Campbell joined the OCU coaching staff in 2014. Since that time, OCU has produced six national champions, 26 all-Americans and a 59-17 dual record. In 2015-16, the Stars had three all-Americans to finish 13th in the NAIA Championships. Campbell mentored two NAIA all-Americans, two qualifying group champions and 16 qualifiers for the NAIA Championships with the Jimmies. Jamestown finished 17th in the 2011 NAIA Championships. The Jimmies also achieved in the classroom with three NAIA scholar-athlete award winners and a CoSIDA academic all-American during Campbells tenure. Prior to Jamestown, Campbell worked as athletic director, guidance counselor, P.E. teacher and cross country coach at Dodson Public Schools in Dodson, Montana. He led the cross country team to a state runner-up finish. Campbells previous head-coaching experience came at Shelley High School in Shelley, Idaho, where he produced six state qualifiers and three state placers. While at Shelley, Campbell served as strength and conditioning coach for state champion basketball and golf teams. Campbell has experience guiding Olympic athletes, helping the Chinese train for the 2008 Olympics as strength and conditioning coach for the Guong Dong Institute of Sports in 2007. As a wrestler, Campbell became a two-time NAIA all-American, national finalist, and regional champion for Lindenwood University (Mo.). He was a two-time NJCAA all-American at Southwestern Oregon Community College. As a prep wrestler, Campbell was a state champion, two-time state finalist, four-time state placer and a two-time district champion. Campbell also competed at the Regional Olympic Trials in 1999 and at the U.S. Nationals in 2006 and 2007. Campbell saw success in other sports including Mixed Martial Arts fighting with a 3-0 record, and was a top rusher in the Rocky Mountain Football League while playing for the Idaho Falls Mustangs (a semi-pro football team). Campbell is married (Kimberly). He has a son Clayton (16), daughter Kiesha (21) and granddaughter Maliyah (1). C.J.
