Olivet College Men's Diving

Davisson is in her third season as the head swimming and diving coach at Olivet College in 2016-17. Davisson came to Olivet after serving as an assistant coach at Southwestern (Texas) University for the last three seasons. At Southwestern, she was heavily involved in recruiting from the initial contact of prospective student-athletes to organizing campus visits. Davisson designed and coached workouts for all training groups, and handled meet entries and management, while working closely with the head coach on travel arrangements for away meets. She was also an instructor of Fitness and Recreation Activity classes, and oversaw the lifeguard staff for the aquatic facility. Davisson helped guide the Pirate men to a second-place finish and women to a fourth-place finish at the 2014 Southern Collegiate Athletic Association (SCAC) Championships, while breaking 15 school records and earning four NCAA B cuts. The second-place finish was the highest finish in school history at the SCAC championships. While in Texas, she spent summers serving as the assistant head coach for the Georgetown Summer Swim Association in 2013 and the University of Texas Longhorn Swim Coach in 2012. Prior to moving to Texas, Davisson completed a masters degree with focuses in sports psychology and motor behavior from the University of Tennessee in May 2011. While in Knoxville, she was the head coach for a summer league swim team for two summers. A native of West Lafayette, Ind., Davisson earned a bachelors degree in psychology from the College of Wooster (Ohio) in May 2008. She was a four-year letterwinner on the womens swimming team, specializing in the middle distance, breaststroke and individual medley. After graduating from Wooster, Davisson was an assistant swimming coach at the Moon Valley Aquatic Club in Phoenix, Ariz., for one season.

Beach is in his second season as an assistant swimming and diving coach at Olivet College in 2016-17. Beach earned a bachelors degree in journalism from Ohio Wesleyan University. While there, he was a four-year letterwinner, specializing in the sprint freestyle events, for the Battling Bishops. Beach was a volunteer assistant coach at OWU during the 2014-15 season. He also served as an assistant coach at the Delaware Ohio Race Club for the 2014 winter season, while also coaching the masters program at LifeTime Fitness in Deerfield, Ohio. A native of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Beach graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 2010. As a senior, he was named All-Ohio, and as a junior and senior he was a first-team All-Conference selection. From 2009-11, Beach was the head coach of the Upper Sandusky Swim Team, a traditional summer league team. 

Bates is in his first season as the diving coach at Olivet College in 2016-17. Bates is a U.S. Masters Nationals Gold, Silver and Bronze medalist in the one- and three-meter springboard and 10-meter platform competition. A former world ranked high diver, he placed fifth in the world high diving championships in Switzerland and sixth in the world cliff diving championships in Acapulco, Mexico. As a professional high diver and performer, Bates credits include stunt double for David Letterman on 'The Letterman Show' making top ten all time outdoor stunts alongside 100ft, 80ft, 60ft and 50ft high dives and cliff dives. Under his tutelage, student-athletes have placed repeatedly at County, MISCA, Conference, Regional, State and National competitions. Prior to joining the Olivet staff, Bates coached divers at Hillsdale College and currently runs his own club, Hastings Community Diving Club, in Hastings. In addition to English, he speaks fluent Spanish and German and has had the pleasure of training ESL/ENL exchange students during his 15-year coaching career.
