Erik Mattox

Head Coach

Erik Mattox was hired to the OCC Men's Lacrosse staff in 2024 prior to coaching the Women's Lacrosse program for three seasons, leading them to an Invitational Championship in 2024. Mattox led the Lazers to 9-4 in his first season with a Region III title and a National Tournament appearance. Mattox was named Region III Coach of the Year. Mattox, a Syracuse Native, played lacrosse at Nottingham High School and played for the Lazers under OCC Legend Chuck Wilbur. Prior to OCC, Mattox was the head coach of the Women's Lacrosse team at Cazenovia College, where he lead them to their only NCAA playoff appearance after winning the NEAC Championship. Mattox has coached club lacrosse for over a decade in the upstate area.   Mattox and his wife Jenna, have three children Aliyah, Micah, and Marleigh.

Mike Villano

Assistant Coach

Villano is a 1995 graduate of Auburn High School in Auburn, New York.  He graduated from Herkimer County Community College in 1997, where he was a two time All-American and member of the 1996 National Championship team.  He graduated from Hobart College in 1999.  Mike was a North/South Senior all star team participant his senior year at Hobart and has orchestrated Onondaga's hard hitting, stingy defense since 2002. Mike resides in Auburn with his wife Chrissy and their two boys, Mikey and Rocco Villano.

Joe Villano

Assistant Coach

Villano, the brother of Mike Villano, played high school lacrosse at Auburn High School. He went on to Hudson Valley Community College for two years, where he was a two-sport star in football and lacrosse. In lacrosse, he was named an All-American Defenseman. He finished up his career at Division I University of Hartford, where he was a two-year starter and team captain. Joe has been helping with are defense and goalies since the 2005 season. Joe lives in Auburn with his wife Kelly and their children Alexa and Joseph.

Chuck Wilbur

Assistant Coach

Wilbur is a 1995 graduate of Cicero-North Syracuse High School, where he is a member of the school's Hall of Fame. Wilbur went on to Herkimer County Community College, where he was a two time All-American lacrosse player in 1996 & 1997. Wilbur was named the NJCAA National Player of the Year in 1997 and continued on to play Hobart College in 1998 and 1999. He graduated from Hobart in 1999, and was the Team Most Valuable Player and leading scorer that year. As Onondaga head coach, Wilbur has compiled a 234-15 record, winning 15 consecutive Mid-State Athletic Conference championships, 11 consecutive Region 3 championships, and 9 National Championships including the last seven titles. Wilbur was named the NJCAA Lacrosse Coaches Association National Coach of the Year in 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2011 and 2013. He resides in Cicero with his wife, Laura, and their three children, Nicholas, Elena and Charles.

Nick Gatto

Assistant Coach

Gatto was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director in July of 2014. In this role, he is responsible for running the departments game/event management for all on-campus events, facility operations and intramural programming. Nick is also responsible for the departments internship program and mentoring undergraduates who are majoring in Sport Management. Nick has played an immense role in creating the Onondaga Lazers Athletic Golf Tournament, one of the biggest fundraisers for the athletic department. He has also formed the Onondaga Speaker Series, which brings motivational and educational speakers onto campus to speak to student-athletes covering a wide range of topics including substance abuse, mental health and sexual assault.  Nick has been successful in bringing in speakers such as Chris Herren and Jordan Burnham. He is also responsible for coordinating all of the departments athletic camps and club sports. Before Nicks roll as the Assistant Athletic Director he served as the Program Coordinator for three years within Onondagas Athletic Department. He has also served as an assistant coach for the mens lacrosse team since 2008. As the offensive coordinator Nick has helped guide the Lazers to eight out of the teams nine national championships.  Nick was a part of the Lazers lacrosse team in 2006 where he led the team to the first national championship in the teams history. Due to this victorious feat, the entire 2006 team became members of the Onondaga Community College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011. Nick is also an inductee of the 2016 National Junior College Athletic Association Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Before Nicks tenure in the athletic department, he worked for five years in the office of Testing Services at Onondaga where he administered the college placement test to all incoming freshman. Nick was a two-year member of the mens lacrosse team at Onondaga and still holds records on the all-time scoring list. In 2006, he was named a first team All-American and the National Offensive Player of The Year. After his two years at Onondaga, he transferred to Le Moyne College where he continued his playing career and where he won the 2007 Division II National Championship. Nick was once again named an All-American in 2008. Nick is a native of Syracuse and holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Onondaga Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Le Moyne College and a Master of Science in Sport Management from SUNY Cortland. Chris Brim

Assistant Coach

Brim is a Jordan-Elbridge graduate; he then played two years here at Onondaga. A very good crease attackman, he finished his sophomore campaign with 34 goals and 10 assists. Chris was a two-time Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic All-American during his time at Onondaga. He is the head of academic development for the team which includes study halls and tutoring sessions. Chris also coordinates much of the recruiting for the program, in addition to running the box on game days. He resides in Elbridge with his wife Kayley and their daughter, Ellie.
