Jeff Tadtman
Head Coach
Coach Tadtman is in his first season as head coach of the OU men's and women's golf programs. Before coming to Ottawa University, Tadtman was the head men’s and women’s golf coach at Fort Scott Community College (2018-2024). His 2023-24 men’s team had a regional ranking of sixth and a national ranking of 30th and his 2023-24 women’s team had a regional ranking of third and a national ranking of 33rd. The FSCC women’s golf team had four top-three finishes in 2023-24. The 2022-23 FSCC men’s golf team earned the 2023 Mark Laesch Award for NJCAA DI. This award was for the greatest improvement in adjusted stroke average. He served as the Chief Development Officer (2019-2021) for the Fort Scott Community College Foundation Association at FSCC. Tadtman created strategies and objectives to manage the endowment that gave out over $140,000 in scholarships. He was also the head women’s basketball coach (2016-2019) at FSCC. Before his time at FSCC, Tadtman was a head women’s basketball coach at Carl Albert State College (2003-2016), Iowa Western Community College (2000-2003), Kansas City University (1996-2000), Independence Community College (1993-1996), and Cowley College (1991-1993). He was also the head women’s tennis coach at Cowley College. Tadtman was named to the Independence Community College Hall of Fame in 2014 and the Iowa Western Community College Hall of Fame in 2011. He has been named Coach of the Year by many organizations: College Sports Magazine (1995-96) Kansas Basketball Coaches Association (1993-94, 1994-95, 1995-96, 1996-97) National District D (1993-94, 1994-95, 1995-96, 1996-1997) Kansas Region VI (1993-94, 1994-95, 1995-96, 1996-1997) Jayhawks East Conference (1993-94, 1994-95, 1995-1996) Tadtman graduated from Southwestern College in 1992 with a degree in physical education and recreation.

Nick Davis
Head Coach
Davis is in his fifth season as head coach of the Ottawa University football program. Was the program's defensive coordinator in 2021 In 2025, led the Braves to the second-largest win turnaround in the country. Led the Braves to a 2023 Bissell Division Championship and an appearance in the NAIA Football Championship Series Davis has coached 3 NAIA All-Americans, 1 KCAC Bissell Division Defensive Player of the Year, 65 All-KCAC performers Coached one, 1,000 yard rusher Had 43 players named Daktronic Scholar Athletes He is no stranger to the Ottawa University football program. Davis spent the 2010 and 2011 seasons as a graduate assistant, coaching defensive backs and linebackers at OU. He was part of two NAIA Football Championship Series qualifying teams and helped OU to a 2011 KCAC Championship. Davis coached 10 all-conference performers, three NAIA All-Americans and served as the junior varsity defensive coordinator. Throughout his coaching career, he has compiled a 96–68 overall record, achieving a winning percentage of .585. During this time, He led teams to four conference championships and three playoff appearances, consistently building competitive and successful programs as a Head Coach or a Coordinator. Davis has helped thousands of coaches across the nation by sharing his knowledge in person and on platforms like CoachesClinic.com and USAFootball.com. He was selected to the AFCA 2022 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute. Before returning to OU, Davis spent 10 seasons on the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology staff, a NCAA Division III school in Terre Haute, Ind. He was the Fighting Engineers defensive coordinator for six seasons and was promoted to assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator in 2018. Davis also coached the linebackers. He holds a USA Weightlifting Certification and served as Rose-Hulman’s football strength and conditioning coordinator. Davis led one of the nation’s top defensive units in his time as defensive coordinator at Rose-Hulman. From 2015 to 2020, his defenses led the nation in sacks. The Fighting Engineer defense led the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) in total defense in 2015 and scoring defense in 2016. Under Davis’ tutelage in 2020, the Rose-Hulman defense only allowed 13.6 points and 305.6 yards of total offense per game. While at Rose-Hulman, Davis coached three All-Americans, eight All-Region selections, and 33 All-HCAC performers. Prior to being named defensive coordinator, Davis was the Fighting Engineers’ special teams coordinator in 2013 and 2014. He coached two All-HCAC performers, had one player selected to play in the DIII Senior Classic and his special teams unit broke three school records. Before joining the football staff at Ottawa University in 2010, Davis served as a strength and conditioning football intern at the University of Michigan and Western Illinois University in 2010. Davis was a member of the football team at NCAA Division III Monmouth College in Illinois, earning Academic All-Conference honors. He spent one season as a defensive line assistant for the Fighting Scots. He graduated from Monmouth with a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in communications in 2010. Davis completed his master’s in education curriculum and instruction from OU in 2011.? Davis and his wife Heather have two two dogs, Scout and Annie.

Chris Edwards
Assistant Coach
Coach Edwards is in his first season as the Braves' Special Teams Coordinator. He spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons as a graduate assistant coach with the program. Edwards was at Alma College where he was a member of the AC football program from 2020 to 2023. As a medical redshirt in 2022, he was a student assistant for Alma. Edwards worked on all aspects of the program. Edwards also was a volunteer assistant coach at Royal Oak Shrine Catholic High School. While at ROSCHS, he helped install the offense and assisted with the development of the quarterbacks. Edwards was on the Dean’s List in the Fall and Winter semesters of 2021, 2022, and 2023. He graduated with a degree in business administration with a minor in data analytics in 2024 from Alma College. Edwards earned his MBA - Business Data Analytics from Ottawa University.

Spencer Wheeler
Assistant Coach
Coach Wheeler is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Ottawa University football program and his first season serving as the Braves’ Offensive Coordinator. He brings more than 11 years of coaching experience at multiple levels of football, including collegiate programs and high school programs in both Northern and Southern California. Wheeler has extensive experience on both sides of the ball, including five seasons as an offensive play caller and one season directing a defense. His background also includes serving as a collegiate Pass Game Coordinator and Video Coordinator, while coaching the offensive line and overseeing run game and recruiting operations. Prior to arriving at Ottawa, Wheeler was part of a 2024 Big South-OVC Conference Championship program that advanced to the FCS Playoffs. Known for his disciplined leadership and detail-oriented approach, he is committed to building successful programs through innovative coaching, player development, game planning, and recruiting.
