Flores helped the Javelinas to a second straight Lone Star Conference Championship and a third straight regional championship appearance. The Javelinas were ranked as high as No. 4 in NCAA Division II national polls. Flores coached 11 All Lone Star Conference selections including seven first-team selections, three second-team selections and one honorable-mention selection along with both the Player of the Year and Academic Player of the Year. Of those 11 players, five were selected to the Daktronics Division II South Central Regional first and second teams and one Daktronics All-American selection.   He recently served his second season as assistant coach for the Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League leading them to a second consecutive TCL Championship appearance in a record breaking season in which the team broke the single season wins with 37. Along with having nine TCL all-star selections and both the Pitcher of the Year (Kris Looper- University of Incarnate Word) and the Batting Title Champion (Justin Pacchioli- Lehigh University), he was also selected to be the assistant coach on the all-star team to represent the South Division. Throughout his two years on the coaching staff, the team produced five MLB First Year Player Draftees including: - Argenis Angulo (Cleveland Indians 19th round), Taylor Hearn (Minnesota Twins 25th round) and Drake Roberts (Cleveland Indians 29th round); - Glenn Sparkman (Kansas City Royals 20th round) and Kyle Thornell (Colorado Rockies 34th round); and one player signing a free agent contract: Alvaro Rondon (Arizona Diamondbacks).    Flores recently served as the assistant coach for the Waccamaw Waves of the Beach Collegiate Baseball League in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and led the inaugural campaign to a second place finish in the Atlantic Division and a playoff appearance. Under Flores, the team produced five BCBL all-star selections and was selected to serve as an assistant coach in the BCBL All-Star game.    Flores played all four years of his collegiate career at Texas A&M University-- Kingsville, where he had a standout campaign in which he broke both the single season and career records for saves as the team's full-time closer. Throughout his career, he was a vital part of a pitching staff that won two conference championships and reached the regional championship game in two consecutive seasons.   Flores graduated from Texas A&M University -- Kingsville with a bachelors degree in Kinesiology. He is from Victoria, Texas. Flores and his fiancé Katrina reside in San Antonio and are parents to one-year-old daughter, Kyleigh.    Jake Mendiola joined the Saints baseball coaching staff in spring 2016. He is a native of  Kingsville, Texas, and he graduated from Richland Northeast High School in Columbia, South Carolina.   During high school, he was a standout catcher and received All-Region honors during his senior year. Upon completion of high school, Mendiola signed with the JUCO D1 power house, University of South Carolina-Sumter.  During his two-year stay, he led his team to two conference tournament appearances, one super regional appearance and a Region X championship.  After two years in South Carolina, Mendiola transferred to his hometown to play for Texas A&M University- Kingsville. While in Kingsville Mendiola continued to lead his team to post-season play for both his junior and senior year. During his senior year, he lead his team to a regional tournament appearance and was named First-Team All-Conference as a catcher in the Lone Star Conference, while boasting a .331 batting average and leading the team in both doubles (12) and RBIs (39), while maintaining a .984 fielding percentage.   After his collegiate career, Mendiola signed with the Amarillo Sox of the American Association of Independent Baseball, but was later released and signed with the Rio Grande Valley White Wings of the United Baseball League. Mendiola received  his bachelors degree in Kinesiology with a Sport Business concentration. He will bring a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the game to the players this year and will primarily be working with the hitters and catchers.  Father Cristopher Robinson returns for his third year as the chaplain for the OLLU Saints Baseball Team. He has been the rector at St. Francis Episcopal Church in San Antonio for four years.He and his wife Kristina have been married for 21 years, and they have two sons, Michael and Zachary. Robinson is an ardent supporter of education, and is an adjunct faculty member at St. George Episcopal School in the Sacred Studies department in addition to his responsibilities at St. Francis.  He previously served on the Episcopal Schools Commission of the Diocese of West Texas.  He also serves on the Ecumenical Commission.  He volunteers every year to lead a camp session at Camp Capers, our diocesan summer camp. A Texas native, Robinson earned degrees in Civil Engineering at Rice and The University of Texas at Austin, and was previously employed as an airport consultant before going to seminary. joined the Saints in 2016 as manager. He is a native of Jourdanton, Texas, where he graduated from Jourdanton High School. He transferred to OLLU from San Antonio College. A sophomore, Medina enjoys hunting and fishing. His favorite motto is, "Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game." His athletic role model is David Wright.   joins the coaching staff of the Saints baseball team. Razo played two years for the Saints after transferring from Frank Phillips Junior College. He is a native of Pearland, Texas, where he attended Manvel High School. Razo, who played first base, earned Conference Scholar Athlete recognition. has joined the coaching staff of the Saints baseball team. Marte played two years on the Saints team as a pitcher after transferring from Monroe College. He is a native of Boston, Mass., and a graduate of Brighton High School. While on the team, Marte earned Conference Scholar Athlete and Champions of Character recognition. has joined the coaching staff of the Saints baseball team. Gallego played two years on the team after transferring from Lincoln College. He is a native of Bryan, Texas, and a graduate of Bryan High School.

Freddy Rodriguez

Rodriguez's overall coaching record is 200-328-2. During the season, Darius Patton was named an NAIA Scholar Athlete, and receiving All-Conference honors were Anthony DeJesus, Jordan Hackett and JB Martinez. David Marte was named to the Champions of Character team, while he along with Dallas Forno, TJ Kassner, Martinez, Patton, Ryan Ramsey, Josh Razo, Matthew Rodriguez and Alex Torres were named RRAC Scholar Athletes. In 2015, Rodriguez led the Saints in its inaugural season that was kicked off with a ceremony featuring Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff and Sister Jane Ann Slater throwing out the first pitch on Feb. 6, 2015. The Saints finished fourth in the RRAC regular season with a conference record of 15-12. They qualified for the postseason tournament and defeated Bacone College 15-7 and upset tournament No.1 seed, LSU-Alexandria 4-3 on day one. On day two of the tournament, the Saints lost to LSU-Shreveport 12-4 in the winners bracket semifinal game. The Saints had to defeat LSU-Alexandria one more time on day three to advance to the championship game, but they fell short to end their season at 26-29-1. During the inaugural season, Anthony DeJesus and Connor Kalisky were named RRAC Player of the Week and Jordan Hackett was named RRAC Pitcher of the Week. Three received RRAC All-Conference First-Team honors (DeJesus, Kalisky, Hackett), while one received Second-Team honors (Nic Campos). Hackett was honored on both the RRAC and NAIA Rawlings Gold Glove Team; he was the only pitcher selected for both awards at the conference and national level. Rodriguez came to OLLU from NAIA/RRAC opponent Texas College (TC), where he served as the head baseball coach for eight seasons (2006-2014) leading TC to six consecutive RRAC Championship Tournament appearances from 2009-2014. During his leadership at Texas College, Rodriguez was instrumental in the growth of the baseball program after successfully recruiting players from 18 different U.S. states, as well as Puerto Rico. Rodriguez also served as an instructor at Texas College from 2008-2013 and was promoted to Athletic Director for the 2013-2014 academic year.  He is committed and prides himself to high academic standards and graduation rates. Three of his teams earned the highest GPA among all other athletic programs at TC. He also boasted an 84-percent graduation rate among seniors who came through his program. Some of the notable accomplishments for Rodriguez while at Texas College included a record-setting 2012 season, when his team set the school record for wins in a season, set a NAIA team national single-game record for hit batsmen in a game (13), and player Matt McEuen tied a national single-game record by hitting three triples in one game. Twenty of his players were named to the All-Conference team and six received Gold Glove awards. In addition, five of his former players are now college coaches, most notably the Jarvis Christian College coaching staff. Jarvis head coach, Mike Holochuck and his assistant coaches; Nick Pena and Jon Anderson all played for Rodriguez at Texas College and later became a part of his coaching staff after graduation. Matt Williams-Valdosta State University and Tyler Seibert-East Texas Baptist University also played for Rodriguez at TC. Rodriguez has extensive collegiate summer-league coaching experience having spent one summer as assistant/hitting coach with the Dubuque Waves of the River Valley League in 2009, when he was named Assistant Coach of the Year and produced the leagues Offensive Player of the Year. He also spent three summers coaching the Alexandria Aces of the Texas Collegiate League (TCL) from 2010-2012 serving as their hitting and third-base coach. During the summer of 2011, Rodriguez took over mid-season as interim head coach and was eventually named as their head coach for the summer of 2012. In his first season leading the Aces, Rodriguez guided them to their first TCL playoff appearance clinching a berth after winning the final game of the regular season.  Under Rodriguez, the 2012 Aces produced four Major League Baseball draft picks: Derek Vaughn (Texas Wesleyan University-Tampa Bay Rays), Tyler Vail (Temple College-Atlanta Braves), Doug Votoloto (University of Central Arkansas-Texas Rangers) and Caleb Adams (UL Lafayette-Los Angekes Angels) with four other players signing professional contracts: Devin Malone, Garrett Vail, Ryan Wagner and René Moreda. In February 2013, Rodriguez was announced as the head coach for the Woodlands Strykers of the TCL, but later resigned to accept a full-time position as Athletic Director for Texas College in April 2013. Community service and volunteer work serve a big part of Rodriguezs beliefs having spent time working with the Salvation Army, the Boys and Girls Club of East Texas, Habitat for Humanity-Smith County, Food Bank of East Texas and many other organizations while in Tyler, Texas. He is a member of the Texas High School Coaches Association and American Baseball Coaches Association. A 1993 graduate of Ellison High School in Killeen, Texas, Rodriguez earned All-District honors and was a three-time Gold Glove recipient. Upon graduation, he went on to attend the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor to continue his playing career.  He also attended Ranger College, where he played one season before moving to Tyler.  Rodriguez earned an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Tyler Junior College (2000), a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Tyler (2004) and a Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine (2013).   Rodriguez currently resides in San Antonio. has completed his second year as assistant baseball coach. He guided the Saints to a fifth-place finish in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) regular season with a conference record of 18-14. The Saints qualified for the postseason tournament and lost the first game to Jarvis Christian College 6-11. They went on to defeat the University of Houston-Victoria 12-8 and the dropped their last game to LSU-Alexandria 1-9 to end their season with an overall 29-27 record.
