Owens Community College Men's Soccer

    Nate Baer was selected as head coach to reinstate the Express men's soccer program for Fall 2024 in December of 2023. In his first two seasons, the Express posted a record of 19-12-2 with a conference record of 9-2-1, earning back-to-back OCCAC conference titles and back-to-back Region 12 titles. Baer was named OCCAC Coach of the Year in 2024 and 2025, and Region 12 D3 Coach of the Year in 2025. Baer brings a wealth of experience and success, having previously served as head coach for two prominent high school soccer programs at Mason and Ottawa Hills high schools. At Mason, he amassed a record of 37-13-9 and a league record of 22-3-2 while earning two conference titles, three sectional titles, and two district titles, while finishing the '21 and '22 seasons as the #1 team in the city (Cincinnati). Prior to that, he served as head coach at Ottawa Hills High School for eight seasons. Under his leadership, the Green Bears earned a record of 112-34-6 and a league record of 58-2 while achieving eight league titles, eight sectional titles, four district titles, two regional titles, and one state final appearance. He earned what is considered the highest award a high school coach can receive as the 2019 National Federation of State High Schools Coach of the Year. The NFHS award resulted from Baer having been named the Ohio soccer coach of the year for 2018 by the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Baer was named the league Coach of the Year from 2013-2021 between both high school programs. His coaching licenses include: USSF National E License, USSF National D License, Futsal Level 3/4, and TOVO methodology. Baer has also gained experience via the youth club soccer platform with Toledo Celtics, Pacesetter Soccer Club, and Ohio Elite Soccer Academy. Having played for the Express men's soccer team led by Art Johnson in the Fall of 2006 and 2007, Baer went on to captain Lake Erie College men's soccer while earning a B.S. in marketing. He is currently the founder and principal consultant of a Data Analytics Consulting startup. He resides in Perrysburg with his wife (Sam) and four daughters(Quinn, Brinnly, Rian & Logan).    

Nathan Albright serves as an Assistant Coach for the men's soccer program at Owens Community College. He got his start with the Owens soccer staff back in 2023, volunteering to help rebuild the women's soccer program when it relaunched under then-head coach Zane Polack, and has stuck with the program ever since. Outside of Owens, Nathan wears a few coaching hats. He's the founder and head coach of XI Sports Performance, working with athletes from youth through college level on strength, speed, and performance development. He's also assistant coach at St. Francis de Sales (Knights), where he and Head Coach Mike Kern have built a 50-24-6 record across four seasons since 2022,  a TRAC Championship (2022), a CHSL Championship (2024), District Champions (2022-2025) and back-to-back Regional semifinal appearances (2024-2025). Nathan has turned his playing background into a coaching career focused on developing athletes, on the field and in the weight room alike. He earned his Bachelor's in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from the University of Toledo, and holds a USSF National D License. 

Entering his third season with Owens Community College, Brian serves as both Assistant Coach and Goalkeeping Coach, bringing a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success at multiple levels of the game. During his time with the program, he has helped lead Owens to back-to-back league and district championships, while also coaching the OCCAC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2024. Prior to joining Owens, Brian spent over a decade coaching at the high school level, establishing himself as a leader of one of the premier programs in Northwest Ohio. At Ottawa Hills High School, he worked alongside Head Coach Nate Baer before taking over the program and helping sustain its reputation as an elite, championship-caliber team. During his time with the program, Ottawa Hills compiled an overall record of 74-22-10, capturing four league titles, four sectional championships, four district titles, and three regional championships, while making three consecutive state semifinal appearances and advancing to a state final. Brian’s success has been recognized with multiple coaching honors, including Northwest District Parochial Coach of the Year, TAAC League Coach of the Year, and District Coach of the Year. In addition to his high school experience, he has coached at the club level, working with U16 through U19 programs and helping develop players for the next level. Brian is a graduate of Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio, where he was a four-year member of the men’s soccer program. He currently resides in the Toledo area with his wife, Brittney, and their three daughters, Brynleigh, Bexley, and Bostyn.
