Pace University Men's Lacrosse

Janavey, who enters his eighth season in 2027, has over 25 years of successful lacrosse coaching experience. He comes to Pace University from Mercy College, where he served as an assistant men’s lacrosse coach for three seasons. Prior to Mercy, he served two seasons as the men’s lacrosse associate head coach at Dominican College. Before that, Janavey spent six years as the Boys Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach at perennial powerhouse, Somers High School (N.Y.). During his tenure at Somers, he guided the Tuskers to three Sectional Finals, including The Section 1 Championship in 2009. Prior to Somers, Janavey spent two years helping to start the Varsity program at Edgemont High School (N.Y.). For the 16 years before that at Lakeland-Panas High School, he served as an Assistant Varsity Coach, Defensive Coordinator & Goalie Coach. During his time there, the Rebels won an astounding six Section 1 Championships. Janavey has coached over 18 High School All-Americans and countless All-Section players during his career. He has served on various selection committees for prestigious All-Star Teams and Recruiting Showcases. Janavey was the 2000 Head Coach of the New York team, in the “New York vs Maryland Challenge.” From 2004 through 2014, he was the Director of the WestRock Lacrosse Club. Additionally, he has seven stints as a coach for the Hudson Valley Empire Team.  In 2012, he was the Silver Medal winning Head Coach in the first year of the Empire State Cup. Lew lives in Jefferson Valley, New York with his wife Laurie and two sons JoJo and Dominic.

Mulholland enters his second season as a Pace Men's Lacrosse Assistant Coach after returning to the sidelines in August 2014. Mulholland started the mens lacrosse program at Pace in 1983 and led the team to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship in 1999. Mulholland brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the Setters. From 1965-67, he played varsity lacrosse at SUNY Brockport. Upon graduation he moved into coaching and served as the head junior varsity coach at Yorktown High School from 1970-73. In 1976, Mulholland took over as the head coach for the Ardsley High School club team, before becoming the head varsity coach at Sleepy Hollow High School from 1977-78. In 1981, Mulholland took the reins of the Peekskill High School program for two seasons. Mulholland has posted over 400 career wins in high school and college.   Mulholland established the program at Pace in 1983 and was elevated to varsity status in 1986. Mulholland guided the team to a 104-77 record in 14 varsity seasons from 1986-99. His best season with the Setters came in 1999 when he led the team to a 14-1 record and an NE-10 Regular Season and Tournament Championship. For his efforts, he was named the NE-10 and Division II National Coach of the Year.   Following his Pace coaching stint, Mulholland went on to coach at Manhattanville College from 2000-07 and Mount Saint Vincent College from 2008-14. At Manhattanville, he guided the Valiants to 35 wins and while with the Dolphins, he led the program to 41 victories.   Mulholland earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from SUNY Brockport in 1968 and 69. He received his BA in Education and his Masters in History.  

Cornetta returns for his seventh year as an assistant coach for the men's lacrosse program and his sixth year as the Assistant Facilities Manager. He was hired to the position in February 2011 after working in facilities for the athletic department for the previous four years. He is responsible for the care, maintenance and upkeep of all university athletic fields and surrounding grounds. Cornetta also attended Pace University for his undergraduate studies from 2003-2007 and was a member of the lacrosse team all four years. In his senior year, Cornetta started in all 14 games for the Setters. He earned All-Conference, All-Academic First Team in the NE-10 Conference in 2007. He also received the NCAA Sportsmanship award in his senior year. Cornetta graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences in 2007. He earned his Masters in Adolescent Education from Pace University in 2009. Cornetta is originally from Huntington Station, NY. He now resides in Pleasantville, NY with his wife Tori.

Bonitatibus enters his second season as an assistant coach with the Pace men's lacrosse team. Bonitatibus comes in with a wealth of experience as a lacrosse coach, working with the X10 Mountain Lacrosse Academy, Coast 2 Coast Lacrosse, and the No Limit Lacrosse Team. For those organizations, his responsibilities have included scheduling, organizing practices and drills, and team meteings. As a player, Bonitatibus was part of the NCAA Division I Championship team with the Greyhounds in 2012, making a save in the national title tile against Maryland. As a junior, he went 2-0 in eight games with a 6.62 Goals Against Average. Bonitatibus went to Loyola following a standout career a Yorktown High School where he was All-Section and All-League in 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Tom Mariano, the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Co-Coach of the Year, heads into his 14th season as the head coach of the Pace men's lacrosse program in 2027. During his successful tenure in Pleasantville, the Setters have posted a record of 123-66 (.651 win percentage). Mariano became Pace's all-time winningest coach in 2026 with his 119th career victory on April 1st against American International College. In addition to his Pace coaching duties, Mariano also serves as the president of the USILA. Mariano was previously named the MLL Coach of the Year after leading the Florida Launch to their first-ever playoff berth in 2017. In 2026, the Blue and Gold posted an incredible season under Mariano, earning 13 wins to help guide the squad to appearances in the NCAA Quarterfinal Round and NE10 Championship. In 2024, Pace was ranked as high as #7 in Division II Lacrosse. The program earned its first-ever NCAA Tournament win defeating Mercyhurst University at home, 16-10. The win marked not only the program's first-ever win in NCAA Tournament play but also Mariano's 200th career win. Pace's 2019 season, which was Mariano's sixth at the helm, marked one of the best in program history. Mariano's squad racked up the second most single-season wins (13) in school history en route to making an appearance in their fifth straight NE10 Championship Tournament. Pace was ranked in every USILA National Poll in 2019, rising to as high as No. 6 in mid-March. Following the season, Mariano was chosen as one of the coaches for the USILA Senior All-Star Game. He led the North squad, which also featured the Setters' own Danny Keenan and Brad Paterson. Pace also completed the entire 2018 campaign slotted inside the National Rankings, including a high of No. 3 in the country. Off the field, the Blue and Gold was even more impressive. Pace earned the NE10's Team Excellence Award in 2018, signifying the highest cumulative GPA in the conference (3.17). Mariano led the Setters to their best season ever in 2017, concluding with the program's first-ever berth into the NCAA Tournament. Pace put together a 12-4 overall record and ended the season ranked No. 5 in the nation. In addition to Mariano's honors, the Setters snagged five other spots on the NE-10 All-Conference teams. Brandon Donnellan and Liam Brennan were each named to the NE10 First Team while Robert Beshlian and Daniel Lewis were selected to the Second Team. Lewis was also selected to the NE10 All-Rookie Team, as was fellow freshman defenseman Mitchell Johnson.    In 2016, Mariano led the Setters to their second NE-10 Conference Tournament since the 2010 season. Additionally, the Setters went on to have a 11-6 record, 7-4 in conference. Mariano coached six players that were named to the NE-10 All-Conference squads in Brandon Donnellan, Jeremy Wiley, Liam Brennan, Robert Beshlian, Matthew Cossidente, and Bradley Paterson. Two members were also named to the ECAC All-Star team in Brandon Donnellan and Liam Brennan. Mariano has a distinguished background as both a player and coach throughout his career. He was the assistant head coach, director of player personnel, and defensive coordinator from 2013 to 2015 for the Ohio Machine of Major League Lacrosse. Mariano helped lead the Machine to their first playoff berth in franchise history in 2014 before earning another playoff appearance with the best season in franchise history in 2015. In 2016, Mariano took a role with the Chesapeake Bayhawks as an assistant coach, offensive coordinator, and goalie coach. The Bayhawks finished tied for first place under Mariano, with attacker Joe Walters earning All-MLL recognition. Mariano was named head coach and general manager for Major League Lacrosse’s Florida Launch organization ahead of the 2017 season. In his first year with the team, Mariano led the Launch to their first ever playoff appearance. His team featured All-MLL Defensive Player of the Year Tucker Durkin, as well as four top-25 players in the league. Mariano’s college experience includes a successful career as the Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Sacred Heart University for 17 years. As the head coach, he oversaw the recruiting efforts, initiated the transition of the lacrosse program from Division II to Division I as well as the move from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference to the Colonial Athletic Association, which is one of the premier college lacrosse conferences in the country, and the eventual move to the Northeast Conference. Mariano and his staff annually produced a team that was a strong influence in the community and also carried a 3.0 team GPA. He had a successful 2013 campaign as the NEC Coach of the Year as his team qualified for the 2013 NEC playoffs. In total, Mariano has coached 70 all-conference players throughout his collegiate coaching career. Mariano received his Master’s Degree in Teaching with a concentration in Elementary Education in 2000 from Sacred Heart University. He is a 1994 graduate of Nazareth College in Rochester, NY with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration. While at Nazareth, he was a member of the 1992 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse National Championship team.
