Head Coach
Seymour has a career record of 417-260 (.616). The Setters have made it to the NCAA tournament five out of the past ten years to total ten trips for Head Coach Carrie Seymour. During the 2015 season, Seymour coached the Setters to a six-game winning streak in the middle of the season that was capped off by a conference victory over Merrimack in which the team connected on 13 three-pointers. Also during the 2015 campaign, senior Margo Hackett earned NE-10 All-Academic Team honors. Under Seymour's coaching, Hackett led the conference in free throw percentage with a mark of 89.4% and became just the 26th member of the 1000 point career scoring list. Seymour was rewarded for her efforts in the 2009-10 season by being named the NIT/Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II Coach of the Year. It was the sixth time Seymour was given this honor while at Pace, as she also received the honor following the 1995-96, 1999-00, 2000-01, 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. Seymour enters the year as Paces all-time victory leader with 417. In 23 seasons, Seymour has averaged 18 wins per season since beginning in 1992. On January 26, 2002, Seymour reached the 200-win mark with an 81-70 victory over Merrimack. To date, she is the fourth-fastest Division II womens basketball coach to reach 100 victories, accomplishing the feat in 127 games. On February 23, 2008 against Le Moyne, she earned her 300th victory of her illustrious career. Well known for her ability to recruit quality student-athletes who graduate and go on to establish successful careers, Seymour has guided her teams to sixteen postseason appearances. The Setters have participated in ten NCAA Tournaments, highlighted by a trip to the Division II Elite Eight in 2000-01 and the Sweet Sixteen in 1993-94 and 2010-11. Pace has also won three Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II championships in 1993, 1996 and 1997. Coach Seymour has been recognized regionally and nationally for her efforts, winning numerous coaching awards. She earned the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award following the 1993-94 season, is a two-time WBCA District Coach of the Year (1993-94 and 1999-00). One of the main constants of Seymours Pace teams has been defense. The Setters have ranked among the top 10 teams nationally in defensive field goal percentage and scoring defense in five of the past 15 seasons, leading the nation in defensive field goal percentage in 1993, 1994 and 1997. Seymours 2000-01 squad finished 12th in defensive field goal percentage and 16th in scoring defense. The Setters led the nation in both categories in 1993-94 and possess the second-best all-time defensive field goal percentage among Division II schools when they held opponents to a .308 shooting percentage in 1993-94. Before coming to Pace, she began coaching at Eastern Connecticut State University where she was an assistant for a year. She then took on one-year stints as an assistant at Marist College and the College of the Holy Cross, before working the sidelines at St. Johns University for six seasons.
