Jamie Bloomstine

Assistant Coach

One of the top goal scorers in Pacific Lutheran men's soccer history, Jamie Bloomstine joined the PLU coaching staff first in 1997 and again in 2000. He holds the distinction of being one of the longest serving assistant coaches at the same school in all of NCAA Div. III soccer. On Sept. 28, 2014, he coached his 300th game for the Lutes against Willamette and coached his 400th game for the Lutes on Sept. 29, 2019 against Whitman. Bloomstine played for PLU from 1992-1996 and earned First-Team All-Conference and All-Region honors during his junior and senior seasons. He also earned NSCAA Second-Team All-West Coast honors during his senior season. He was the first player in the history of the men's soccer program to be drafted to play professional soccer, as he was selected by the Vancouver 86ers in the third round of the A-League draft in December 1995. During his playing career at PLU, Bloomstine scored 31 goals playing at forward and midfield. His goal tally was one of the highest totals for goals in a career at the time of his graduation. He has primarily worked with the forwards as a coach, and several players have surpassed his overall goals total under his guidance. Bloomstine also works for Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer. He works in several coaching capacities for the organization. He and PLU head coach John Yorke co-coached the 1997 Boys Elite Player Development (EPD) team from 2010-2012. The team won the Far West ODP Regionals held in Phoenix, Ariz., in January 2012. The team went undefeated in the tournament and beat Cal-North in the final by a score of 4-0. In 2011 the team lost in the final of ODP Regionals, also held in Phoenix. The majority of the players on the 1997 Boys EPD team went on to play for the Sounders Academy teams and currently play for many NCAA Div. I soccer programs.
