Kisha Lucette, a Hall of Fame player in both volleyball and basketball at Paine College is in her ninth season as Head Women's Volleyball Coach and thirteenth season at Paine College as Assistant Womens Basketball Coach. Coach Lucette has served as head womens track & field coach, and during the 2011 season proved to be very successful. Several Lady Lions received All-conference awards, including freshman Baiesha Johnson who was chosen as SIAC 2011 Field Athlete of the Year, won the women's high jump and long jump competitions, and made an appearance in the NCAA Division II National Tournament in both events. At the national tournament, Baiesha received the third place medal in the long jump, and finished 6th in the women's high jump competition. Lunettes women's high jump team swept the 2011 championships. In addition to Johnson, Antionette McPhail placed second, and Victoria Claytor claimed the bronze medal. Lucette was a proven winner at Paine College, leading the Lady Lions Basketball team to back-to-back SIAC basketball championships. Kisha played a vital role in guiding the Lady Lions to winning seasons of 16-10, 16-12, 18-11, and 22-9 with the latter two seasons (04-06) ending in Paine Colleges first women's basketball SIAC championship and consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament berths. The retirement of her jerseys made her the first and only woman athlete in Paine College history to have not only one, but two jerseys retired and one of three athletes to ever be bestowed this honor. In addition to receiving numerous basketball awards, Lucette left her mark in volleyball as well. In 2005-06, Kisha helped lead the Lady Lions to a 35-4 overall record during her senior season. During that season, she recorded 646 kills, was nationally ranked 22, for kills per game, averaging 4.8 per game, recorded 98 service aces, 630 digs, and 201 total blocks. As a freshman, she received the SIAC Volleyball tournament Hustle Award. Zach Howard
Assistant Coach
Howard enters his 26th season as assistant volleyball coach and his second season as head softball coach for the Lady Lions. Prior to becoming Head Softball Coach, Howard served as Assistant Softball Coach. Howard has been instrumental in skills and player development for volleyball and softball. Several of his players have received all-conference honors in both sports. Although the Lady Lions had a difficult 2011 season with an 8-27 overall record, he is optimistic about this years class of recruits. Last year was tough, said Howard, but this year we expect to be much more competitive within the SIAC Conference. Zack is a 1971 graduate of historic Lucy Craft Laney High School. After graduating, Coach Howard played volleyball for the United States Volleyball association for 12 years, and he also played on the Southeastern & Palmetto Mens fast pitch traveling softball team. Zack is married to Latisha Howard, has two children: Zack Jr. and LaKia, and is the son of the late Georgia State Representative Henry Howard.
