Paul Lawson
Head Coach
Lawson enters his fourth season at Pfeiffer University. Laswson is the winningest men's coach in Pfeiffer history, racking up 50 wins in his first three seasons. In 2016 Lawson guided the Falcons to a second consecutive Conference Carolinas regular season championship. Pfeiffer posted a 16-8 overall record and went 15-3 in league play. Lawson coached national leaders Evan Blair (1.20 blocks per set) and Harrison Lutz (10.87 assists per set). Lawson was the 2015 Conference Carolinas Mens Volleyball coach of the year. He led the Falcons to both the regular season and Conference Carolinas tournament championship and the schools first ever appearance in the NCAA tournament. In 2015, the Falcons set a school record for most conference wins (17), tied a school record for total wins in a season (21) and most consecutive wins (11). Lawson coached national leaders Fabio Diniz (.517 hitting percentage) and David Specian (11.75 assists per set). Lawson has over 20 years coaching experience at the collegiate level and played professionally for five years in the European Volleyball League. Lawson owns 402 career victories and earned the Midwest Regions Coach of the Year in 2002 and was a Chicago Collegiate Volleyball Coach of the Year three times. Most recently, Lawson worked with the Nike 18 and 15 Elite volleyball teams for Energy Volleyball Club. Prior to that, Lawson had a three-year stint (2010-13) running the womens program at Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI, and also served as the schools Recreation Coordinator. Lawson also led the womens program at the University of Saint Mary from 2003-10. He served as the Director of intramural and Recreation and taught classes for the Sport Management degree program while a member of the Spires Athletic Department. From 1999-2002, Lawson led the Marycrest International University mens and womens teams. In 2001, he took the squad to the NAIA National Tournament Championship and earned the Runner-Up. The prior season he took Marycrest to a third-place finish in the NAIA Tournament. He also served as Chairman of the NAIA National Poll from 2000-13 and the Director of the NAIA Mens Volleyball National Tournament from 2002-13. Lawson earned his bachelors in Recreation and Physical Education from George Williams College.

Chris Kimura
Assistant Coach
Kimura enters his third year at Pfeiffer University after spending six years at Energy Volleyball Club in Niles, Illinois. Kimura played a key role in back-to-back Conference Carolinas regular season championships. In 2015 he helped guide the men's volleyball team to their first ever NCAA tournament appearance. Kimura was the head coach for 15 different club teams and qualified Energy to their first ever USAV Junior National Competition, while also leading the club with the highest retention rate. His other duties included instructing all levels in position training, running tryouts, and acclimating new coaches to their systems and philosophies. He worked underneath Coach Paul Lawson during the 2012-2013 club season. He was also the head coach at Lake View High School in Chicago for the 2013 season. Chris has a degree in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University and spent two years teaching at North Elementary in DesPlaines, Illinois.
