Devon Brouse
Assistant Coach
Brouse, a 1971 Purdue graduate, is in his 15th season as head coach and director of golf operations for the Boilermakers. In addition to his coaching duties for both the men's and women's golf teams at Purdue, Brouse is responsible for overseeing operations for the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. The 36-hole masterpiece features two distinctly challenging courses - the Ackerman Hills and Kampen layouts. The latter was designed by the legendary Pete Dye and was the site of the 2008 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. The complex also features state-of-the-art practice facilities and ranks among the finest in college golf. Brouse became the Boilermakers' coach in 1998 after leading North Carolina to 19 NCAA Championships appearances in 21 years. During his tenure in West Lafayette, Brouse has guided the Purdue program to the forefront of collegiate golf. A seven-time conference coach of the year (three times in the ACC and four times in the Big Ten) and a two-time national coach of the year (2006 and 2010), Brouse has led teams to 17 top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships, most recently guiding the Boilermaker women to a ninth-place showing in 2012. In 2010, Brouse piloted the Purdue women to the first NCAA championship in program and Big Ten history. While with Purdue, Brouse has coached seven Big Ten Player of the Year honorees (Lee Williamson, Stacy Orschell, Onnarin Sattayabanphot, Maria Hernandez (twice), Numa Gulyanamitta and Laura Gonzalez-Escallon) and seven Big Ten Freshman of the Year recipients (Chris Mayson, Kari Damron, Whitney Frykman, Christel Boeljon, Stefanie Endstrasser, Maude-Aimee LeBlanc and Adam Schenk). A class "A" member of the PGA, Brouse first joined the University of North Carolina in 1973 as golf director and superintendant of facilities following two years as assistant director of the Indianapolis municipal golf course system. In 1977, he became assistant coach to Mike McLeod and was named head coach one year later when McLeod retired. Brouse immediately experienced success as North Carolina's head coach, leading the Tar Heels to a second-place finish at the ACC Tournament a fifth-place showing at the NCAA Championships. Named ACC Coach of the Year following the 1981, 1991 and 1995 seasons, Brouse built the Tar Heels into one of the premier golf programs in the country. All told, Brouse led UNC to six ACC team titles (1981, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1995 and 1996), 16 top-five conference finishes and 10 top-10 NCAA finishes, including second place in 1991 and third in 1993. In addition to building the Tar Heels and Boilermakers into two of the nation's most respected golf programs, Brouse was also instrumental in the development of several players who achieved great success at both the collegiate and professional levels. Brouse has mentored 89 all-conference performers, two NCAA individual champions (John Inman and Maria Hernandez), a Fred Haskins Award winner (Inman), a Ben Hogan Award winner (Mark Wilson), two Palmer Cup participants (Max Harris and Lee Williamson) and two Walker Cup selections (Frank Fuhrer and Tom Scherrer). Brouse has also coached 10 World Amateur selections (Inman, Shiv Kapur, Maximo Kopp, Santiago Russi, Boeljon, Myrte Eikenaar, Endstrasser, Hernandez, LeBlanc and Thea Hoffmeister). His teams have won 106 team titles and 103 individual medals in collegiate competition. In addition, Brouse also coached Patrick Moore, the leading money winner on the Buy.com Tour in 2002. Three of his pupils (Inman, Scherrer and Davis Love III) have won tournaments on the PGA Tour. In January of 2006, Brouse won the Labron Harris Award, presented annually by the GCAA to the college or high school coach and PGA professional whose support of the game through, coaching and community involvement has helped ensure its continued growth. In 2009, Brouse's place among the legends of the game was cemented when he was inducted into the GCAA Hall of Fame. A native of Indianapolis and a 1967 graduate of Decatur Central High School, Brouse earned a B.S. in agronomy from Purdue in 1971 and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He and his wife, Kathy, have two sons, Matt and Brent, a daughter, Ashley, and a grandson, Scott David. Paulson is in her first season as a volunteer assistant coach at Purdue University and will work with both the men's and the women's golf teams. Paulson, who joined the coaching staff in February 2013, played four seasons for Iowa State, from 2008 to 2012. The Ottumwa, Iowa, native graduated in May 2012, with a materials engineering degree before coming to West Lafayette to pursue a master's degree in materials engineering. During her four years at Iowa State, Paulson earned first team Academic All-Big 12 three times and was twice honored with NGCA Academic All-Scholar awards. Paulson played 129 rounds in her collegiate career, the most career rounds ever by a Cyclone, and her 77.80 career stroke average ranks ninth in school history. A two-time champion of the Iowa Women's Amateur in 2010 and 2011, Paulson broke the tournament scoring mark in 2011 with a 14-under par 202, to win by 10 strokes.

Burke worked with the Valero Texas Open, developing the player handbook, overseeing player activities with local companies and coordinating Executive Women's Day. She performed several other duties for the event, including overseeing ticket elements, supervising hospitality tents and providing addition support throughout the tournament staff. While at Appalachian State Burke had several outstanding performances, leading to the 10th-best career stroke average in program history. She also carded the seventh-best 54-hole score all-time for the Mountaineers, A native of Mooresville, N.C., Burke majored in management at Appalachian State, earning her bachelor's degree in 2013.
