Head Coach

McDowell is entering his 29th season as head coach of the Queens Gaels womens soccer team. A two-time CIS Coach of the Year and the 2012 winner of the OUA Fox40 Coach of the Year award, McDowell has guided the Gaels to three national championships, in 1988, 2010 and 2011, as well as five provincial crowns, in 1988, 2001, 2002, 2011 and last season 2015.   Under his guidance, Queens has posted a combined record of 298-85-81, including OUA and CIS playoffs, for an impressive 0.730 winning percentage. During his tenure, the Gaels have posted 10 or more wins in the regular season six times, this mark also includes a team record 14 during the 2010 season.   A coach who blends both solid offensive and defensive tactics, the Gaels have allowed 10 or more goals only six times in the regular season over his 27 years at the helm. Offensively, McDowells squads are consistently among the league leaders in the nation, highlighted by a team-record 55 goals in 2012.   McDowell, a member of the Queens mens soccer team from 1983-87, has been recognized as the OUA Coach of the Year seven times during his career at Queens, winning 18 provincial medals (3 gold, 9 silver, 6 bronze) and five national medals (2 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze).   A Level 4 NCCP certified coach, the Northern Ireland native lives in Kingston with his wife Laura and their two children, Owen and Dannan.   Dave McDowell - Career Record     * Conference Champions ^ National Champions   (Last updated July 4, 2016)
