Kevin Rodgers

Assistant Coach

Rodgers joined the Ramapo staff as head mens volleyball coach at the start of the 2013 season.  He enters his third year with the team in 2015, his sixth year at the collegiate level overall. A graduate of New Jersey City University, Rodgers was a four-year member of the Gothic Knight men's volleyball team, finishing his collegiate career as one of the most accomplished players in NJCU history. In 2013, Rodgers led the Roadrunners to 20 wins with only 12 losses, while going 11-3 in conference play. His team produced two first team all-conference selections in Chris Sidnam and Mike Kane, along with a second team all-conference selection in Harsh Prajapati. This was Ramapo's first season in the Skyline Conference where they reached the semi-finals of the Championship Tournament.  They also made an appearance in the ECAC South Tournament where they reached the finals.  Last year, the team went 25-11 overall and 12-2 in conference play.  They again made it to the finals of the Skyline Conference Championships but fell short in the final match-up.  Rookie Ahjon Petty, was tabbed as the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year, while fellow Roadrunner, Mike Kane, was named to the All-Conference First Team. Upon graduating from NJCU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Marketing, Rodgers took on the role of assistant coach with the men's program for two seasons, before serving as head coach of the men's and women's programs from 2011-2012.  He previously served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Montclair High School boys' volleyball team and has served as a clinician at a number of camps at Clifton High School and Central Jersey Volleyball Academy. A versatile player, Rodgers played outside and middle hitter for NJCU from 2006-2009.  A two-year captain, he earned First-Team All-NECVA Metro accolades as a middle hitter in 2008, before claiming Second-Team All-NECVA Metro honors as an outside hitter his senior season.  Rodgers helped lead his team to a 71-55 overall record, three post-season tournament appearances, and a pair of 20-win seasons.  He was named NECVA Metro Rookie of the Week, earned All-Tournament Team on three occasions, and presently holds school records for kills in a five-set match (36), and three-set match (25).  He is the only player in NJCU history to record more than 1,250 kills and 1,000 digs in a career. He wrapped up his career with 1,297 kills, 1,014 digs, adding 257 blocks (64 solo, 193 assisted), 113 assists and 80 service aces. Rodgers currently ranks second in NJCU men's history in kills, points, reception percentage, attacks and service attempts (1,733), while standing in third for points per set, fourth in kills per set and digs, and fifth in sets played. Rodgers played four seasons at Clifton High School from 2002-2005. There, he was a two-time Player of the Year and two-year captain for the Mustangs (2004-2005).  During his high school career, he earned First-Team All-Passaic County, First-Team All-NNJIL and Second-Team All-State honors.  He guided Clifton to back-to-back county and league championships as a junior and senior.  In 2005, the Bergen Record tabbed Rodgers as North Jersey Player of the Year. Rodgers also serves as an assistant women's coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Park.  After joining the program, the team improved from a 4-20 team, to a 16-20 team.  The Devils improved in every statistical category including kills/set, assists/set, digs/set, blocks/set, and aces/set, and produced one second team all-conference selection in Helena Riede. She finished with the most kills in a single season in program history after moving from the middle to the outside.   Rodgers is currently in his second season coaching for Central Jersey Volleyball Academy. In 2013, the club team finished 4th in the region out of seventy U17 teams. A native of Los Angeles, California, Rodgers moved to New Jersey in spring 2002 and currently resides in Clifton. 2015 Season
