Bill Cooper

Head Coach

Cooper will begin his fifth season as the head mentor of the Randolph College cross country and track and field programs in 2016-2017. Right away, Randolph's cross country teams made improvements, as every record on both the men's and women's sides fell in the first two years of his coaching. In 2014, he became the coach of the inaugural season of the track and field programs, where he had point scorers in both the indoor and outdoor ODAC Championships. The 2015-2016 season proved to be Coach Cooper's most succesful season.  The men finished sixth at the ODAC Indoor Championships, which pushed Cooper to being named the Men's Coach of the Year.  The outdoor season was just as impressive as the program had its first ODAC Champion.  Anthony Quinn won the 110-meter hurdles and followed it with an impressive performance that saw the program have its first National Qualifier. Cooper came to Randolph College in the summer of 2012 after four successful years as the women's track and field and assistant cross country coach at Trine University in Angola, Ind. While with the Thunder, he increased the roster sizes on each of the teams, while helping lead Trine to many accomplishments, including coaching a conference champion in the 200-meter dash. Before his time at Trine University, Cooper worked as the head coach of both the men's and women's track and field teams at Muskingum College in New Concord, OH. He supervised more than 15 NCAA Division III national qualifiers, while mentoring three D-III All-Americans. He helped build the cross country team, taking it from 11 to 31 student-athletes. The track roster grew from 25 to 65. Cooper also spent time as an assistant track and field coach at Colby College in Waterville, Maine as well as at Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y. Cooper received his B.S. in biology from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio where he competed on the track squad and soccer team. As a four-year letter winner, he earned All-American honors in the 400-meter run.
