Lynn Blevins

Head Coach

Blevins' success at the collegiate coaching ranks may be unmatched by anyone in the RMAC. The 2016-17 season marks Blevins' third season at the helm of the men's program and second of the women's. On the men's side in 2014-15, he and the squad of nine experienced a season of rebuilding and working to develop the games of his student-athletes. Blevins began his duties as the Regis University men's golf coach on July 14, 2014 following five successful seasons at Rogers State (Okla.). Blevins was the first coach in Rogers State history when he took the reigns of both the men's and women's teams before the 2009-10 season. He led his teams to nine total tournament wins in the five seasons at RSU (who is transitioning from NAIA to NCAA Division II). Blevins led the Hillcat men's team to a number 18 ranking in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 poll in 2012 and over the next two years would be ranked inside the top 25 four weeks. They closed out their NAIA era ranked #22 in the final poll. He led the women's team also saw national recognition when they were ranked #25 in 2013 and climbed to as high as 21st before closing out the year and their time in the NAIA also ranked #22. Blevins began his collegiate coaching career in 1979 as head coach at his alma mater the University of Oklahoma. He coached their for three seasons before heading to Gainesville, Fla. to take the same position at the University of Florida. He was named the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Coach of the Year following the 1984-85 season. Blevins guided the Gators to the 1985 SEC Championship while finishing third at the NCAA Championships. In 1986, he led UF to a runner-up finish at the SEC Tournament and before he left Gainesville in 1987, he guided Florida to five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Blevins produced nine All-Americans and six All-SEC golfers at Florida. His teams won 14 tournaments, including five in 1984. He had the privilege of recruiting and coaching PGA professionals Chris DiMarco, Scott Dunlap, Dudley Hart, David Jackson, Pat Bates, and Steve Lamontagne. Following his stint at Florida, Blevins began a three-year stint at the University of Iowa. He led the Hawkeyes to their first ever and only Big 10 Championship in 1992. He was named Big 10 Coach of the Year that season and coached Big 10 Player of the Year Brad Klapprott and Freshman of the Year Sean McCarty.
