Bridget LaNoir
Assistant Coach
LaNoir has been the field hockey head coach at Rensselaer since 2001. She became the program's all-time winningest coach in 2009, passing her former head coach Beth Hallenbeck on October 20, 2009 when the Engineers defeated Utica College, 2-0. During her tenure, she has posted a 111-130 (.461) record. LaNoir has guided Rensselaer to four Liberty League Tournaments, an ECAC Tournament appearance and to the New York State Tournament title in 2001. She has had 44 student-athletes chosen All-Liberty League and 22 who were named All-Region. Academically, her student-athletes have excelled each year with 135 players garnering Liberty League All-Academic recognition. Two have been named National Academic All-Americans (Emily Carroll & Andrea Flynn), while three have earned Academic All-District honors. The Engineers finished the 2014 season with an overall record of 6-11 and a Liberty League mark of 2-4. RPI played five of the 24 teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Hannah Clough (1st Team), Celia D'Agostino (2nd Team) and Chloe Hutchinson (1st Team) were chosen to the 2014 Longstreth / NFHCA North Atlantic All-Region Teams, while Hutchinson was also named to the All-Liberty League First Team. Clough earned All-League Second Team honors, along with D'Agostino. Kelsea Messer and Jena Nawfel were Honorable Mention selections. After an 8-9 season in 2013, in which the Engineers played one of the most difficult schedules in the nation, Sarah Krolus and Hutchinson earned All-Liberty League Second Team honors, while Clough and Jen Piselli received Honorable Mention accolades. Krolus was later named to the All-Region Team. In 2012, the Engineers qualified for the Liberty League Tournament with a 4-2 league mark, while going 9-8 overall. RPI posted a team grade point average of 3.12, and saw 11 student-athletes named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad. Alissa Peterson (1st Team) and Sarah Krolus (2nd Team) were named All-North Atlantic Region and both were also All-Liberty League First Team selections. Hutchinson earned Second Team accolades and two others were Honorable Mention selections. In 2011, LaNoir guided her squad to its best season in recent years, going 11-5 overall and 4-2 in the league. The team, which was anchored on defense by All-Region First Team selections Briana Earle and Piselli, advanced to the Liberty League Playoffs as the third-seed, falling to second-seeded William Smith. Her squad received the 2008 NFHCA Division III Academic Team Award with a team grade point average of 3.53 for the fall 08 semester. Rensselaer ranked second in Division III and third nationally when including all divisions. The Engineers were also honored with three consecutive NFHCA Division III Academic Team awards for earning the highest combined GPA in the country (2003, 2004 & 2005). LaNoir, a native of Glens Falls, NY, was a standout field hockey and ice hockey player at Rensselaer prior to graduating with a biology degree in 1999. She joined the RPI staff following an 18-month stint at the National Sports Academy in Lake Placid, N.Y., where she was a science teacher and ice hockey coach. A midfielder on the field hockey team for four years, LaNoir tallied 46 points (16 goals, 14 assists) in 64 games. A two-time captain, she also helped the team to two New York State Tournament appearances. Among her honors were: three-time All-Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA), three-time All-New York State, two-time team Most Valuable Player and two-time Regional All-American. Following her final season, LaNoir was selected to play in the prestigious North-South Senior All-Star Game. Also a four-year letterwinner in ice hockey, LaNoir holds every school scoring record for defensemen. In her tenure she had 52 goals and 77 assists for 129 points in 96 games. She was a two-time National All-American, a two-time captain, a three-time All-ECAC selection and the teams MVP twice. As a senior she led the Engineers to their first-ever post-season appearance, advancing to the ECAC semifinals. LaNoir, who is a member of Olympia (Rensselaers student-athlete honor society), earned RPIs Female Athlete of the Year Award in 1997-98, the Livingston W. Houston Citizenship Award in 1998-99 and the Rensselaer Female Career Athlete Award for 1995-99.
