Head Coach

DeLano became the head womens lacrosse coach in 2003.  DeLano has led the Engineers to a 118-96 (.551) record, while coaching 40 All-League and 57 Academic All-League players. She became the program's all-time winningest coach on May 5, 2012 - a 16-7 win over William Smith - surpassing Beth Hallenbeck (73). RPI posted a 7-8 overall record in 2016, including a 3-6 mark in Liberty League play. Freshman Erin Goodwin earned All-Liberty League Honorable Mention, while five players were named Liberty League All-Academic. The Engineers went 6-8 (4-5 Liberty League) in 2015, behind five all-conference players, including Second Team selections Meg Colitz, Sophie Hager and Erin Riley. Colitz was selected to play in the IWLCA All-Star Game and the team garnered IWLCA All-Academic honors for the eighth straight season. The Engineers completed their third straight sweep of the Liberty League regular season and tournament championships in 2014, going 13-5 overall, including a perfect 9-0 mark in the conference, for the first time in school history. RPI played in its third straight NCAA Tournament and its fourth overall. Six players were named All-Liberty League, including three First Team selections. DeLano guided her squad to its most successful season to date in 2013, posting a 16-4 overall record, while going 8-1 in Liberty League play. The Engineers advanced to the Regional Final (Elite 8) of the NCAA Tournament after winning the conference regular season and tournament titles. The squad boasted four All-Liberty League selections, including the conference's Defensive Player of the Year - senior goaltender Allie Arnal.  2012 as the Engineers went 16-2 overall with an 8-1 Liberty League record. The team won the Liberty League Regular Season title and went on to defeat William Smith (DeLano's alma mater) for the 2012 Liberty League Championship crown and an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament - the second trip in program history. Among the accolades for the Engineers in 2012 included Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Year honors for junior goalie Allie Arnal and the conference's Coaching Staff of the Year Award to DeLano and assistant coach, Tee Ladouceur. Four players were named All-League, including two on the First Team, while two were All-Region honorees. She guided the squad to a 10-5 record in 2011, going 6-2 in Liberty League play.  The team made its second straight appearance in the conference semifinals, losing a heartbreaker to area-rival, Union.  The Engineers were led by senior Stephanie Caouette, who was one of the team's four All-League First Team selections.  Additionally, Caouette became the program's all-time leader in several categories, including goals (114), assists (56) and points (170).. Before becoming the head coach, DeLano was the womens lacrosse and field hockey intern. In addition, she served as the co-advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Prior to joining Rensselaers staff, she was a graduate assistant with the lacrosse team at Washington College in Chestertown, Md. A 2000 graduate of William Smith College, Khachadourian was a two-sport standout for the Herons, having played for the nationally-ranked soccer and lacrosse teams. She was a three-year member of the soccer team as a goalkeeper.  In her sophomore season the team made it to the National Championship game.  Leslie captained the squad in her senior season.  In lacrosse, she was a three-year starting goalie, earning First Team All-American honors and the Division III Goalkeeper of the Year Award as a senior. DeLano received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and American Studies from William Smith College and her Master of Science Degree in Management from RPI. She and her husband Chris have two children, Briggs and Tatum.
