Dave Zazzaro
Head Coach
Zazzaro, the only head men's lacrosse coach in Rhodes College history, enters his sixth season in 2017. Zazzaro took the Lynx to new levels in 2016 as the Lynx finished with an 11-5 record, setting a new mark in wins in a season. Rhodes earned program first wins over the likes of Carthage and SAA-foe Berry College as the Lynx went 4-3 in a tough conference and finish third in the standings, their highest finish ever. Additionally, the Lynx were named statistical champions for the Man-Down Defensive Percentage. This is the first time the Lynx men's lacrosse team has led the nation in a statistical category. A collegiate coach of 20 years, Zazzaro became Colorado Colleges sixth head coach in 2002 after a highly successful coaching experience at Colby College, where his 70-52 (.574) record in nine years still ranks him as the programs all-time winningest lacrosse coach. In eight seasons with the Tigers, he compiled a 52-44 (.542) record. In addition to being honored as the New England Division III Coach of the Year in 1998, Zazzaro was selected to coach in the 2001 and 2009 North-South Division III All-Star Game. During his stint at Colby, the boundaries of lacrosse success were stretched. The White Mules were nationally ranked four consecutive years, climbing as high as No. 13 in 1999. In 1998, they won the competitive NESCAC league title. In all, Colby competed in five regional post-season tournaments under Zazzaro. Zazzaro earned his bachelors degree in political science from Drew University in 1991, where he was a standout soccer and lacrosse player. During his senior year, he was invited to participate in the North-South Division III All-Star Game in Maryland. He began his coaching career at SUNY-Potsdam in 1991, serving as the assistant coach for the mens soccer and lacrosse programs. Additionally, Zazzaro completed his MBA at Regis University (Denver, Co.) in 2011., In 2014 Zazzaro was the offensive coordinator for the Mexican National Team in the F.I.L World Championships where the team finished 23rd out of 38 attending countries. In 2010 in the Mexican National Team's first exposure to the World Championships, Mexico finished 29th in the world. While at Colby and Colorado College, Zazzaro served on the NCAA Regional Selection Committee and the All America National Committee. During the summer and offseason months, Zazzaro runs lacrosse camps, tournaments, clinics throughout the country. Billy Cameron
Head Coach
Rhodes College announced Billy Cameron as Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach. Cameron becomes the second head coach in the program’s history. “It’s a great day for Lynx Men’s Lacrosse,” Director of Athletics Jim Duncan noted. “Coach Cameron brings a wealth of on-field experience and understands the student-athlete experience at a high academic institution. During the interview process, his competitive spirit and passion for lacrosse and student-athletes was evident.” Coach Cameron spent the last eight years as an assistant at Hampden-Sydney College. During his tenure at HPC, he coached both the offensive and defensive sides and brought a wealth of tactical experience. Coach Cameron also served as a strength and conditioning coach at Hampden-Sydney. He also served as an assistant coach at Bridgewater College from 2012-16, where his program played its first varsity season in 2013. As a player, he was a four-year starter and 2008 All-American at ODAC member Roanoke College. As a senior, he was a first-team All-ODAC selection and helped lead the Maroons to a pair of NCAA semifinal appearances and two ODAC Championships. “I am extremely honored to be named the next Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Rhodes College,” Cameron said, “I want to thank Athletic Director Jim Duncan and the entire search committee for this opportunity. I look forward to building on the foundation that has already been established in pursuit of Rhodes’ next SAA Championship.”

Conor Cunningham
Assistant Coach
Cunningham is a dedicated lacrosse coach and former standout faceoff specialist with a proven record of success across high school, collegiate, and club programs. His career began as a faceoff midfielder at Arcadia University, where he quickly made his mark as one of the program’s top specialists. He earned multiple all conference honors during his collegiate playing days, setting both single-game and single-season program records for faceoffs and ground balls. His performance at the X and ability to dictate possession not only fueled his team’s competitive edge but also laid the foundation for his future role as a faceoff coach and mentor. While at Arcadia, Cunningham earned a B.A. in Biology (2020) and is pursuing his M.A. in Secondary Education. Cunningham began his coaching career in 2016 at Manasquan High School (NJ), serving as defensive coordinator and faceoff director. During his six seasons with the Warriors, he oversaw all aspects of the defensive unit, substitution strategy, clears, and the faceoff game. His impact was immediate and lasting, helping lead the program to three Shore Conference Championships and three New Jersey State Group Championships. At the same time, Cunningham expanded his reach through club lacrosse. As a head coach with Building Blocks Lacrosse (2016–2020), he guided high school travel teams, running practices, leading tournament competition, and mentoring athletes through the college recruiting process. His club coaching emphasized skill development, work ethic, and a holistic approach to player growth. Cunningham returned to his alma mater, Arcadia University, in 2022 as an assistant coach. In this role, he was entrusted with overseeing the program’s faceoff unit, developing SSDM and LSM wing play, and managing substitutions. Under his leadership, Arcadia produced multiple All-Conference faceoff specialists, including two First-Team honorees, and set new program records for faceoffs and ground balls. His coaching mirrored his playing legacy, turning the X into a position of strength for the Knights. In July 2024, Cunningham joined the staff at Roanoke College, one of the premier programs in Division III lacrosse, under legendary Head Coach Bill Pilat. At Roanoke, he has continued to serve as faceoff director, while also managing substitutions and co-coordinating the defensive unit. He was heavily involved in developing the program’s man-down defense and clearing strategies, contributing to a season that produced eight All-ODAC selections, four USILA All-Americans, and top-25 national rankings in both ground balls and caused turnovers. In May 2025, Cunningham was named as a Head Coach of Riot Lacrosse, a high school travel program where he continues to build and guide elite athletes through high-level training, tournament play, and the college recruitment process. His leadership with Riot reflects his long-standing dedication to advancing the game at the grassroots and developmental levels while preparing athletes for collegiate success.

Jeremy Phelps

Phelps enters his second season as assistant coach and defensive coordinator of the Rhodes College Men's Lacrosse program. Phelps' impact was seen immediately as the defense made significant improvements in year one of his tenure finishing fifth nationally in Division III in scoring defense at a stingy 6.25 goals per game. Additionally, the team led the country in man down percentage killing off an incredible 87.7% of penalties. Phelps joined the Rhodes staff with significant college coaching experience, including a stint as the first assistant and defensive coordinator at Goucher College, the first assistant and defensive coordinator at Marywood University, and an assistant and face-off coach at Guilford College. Coach Phelps also was involved with the IMG Lacrosse academy where he served as an assistant coach. Phelps additionally spent time in the Division I ranks at the United States Naval Academy where he was an assistant coach. He was the team's primary face-off coach and led player Brady Dove to finish the regular season fifth in the country in face-off percentage (65.5%). A 2010 graduate of Winthrop University, Phelps earned a degree in sport management. While at Winthrop, Phelps was captain of the lacrosse team from 2007-2010 and finished his career fourth in school history in total points. He also earned a masters degree in athletic administration and leadership from Goucher College in 2015.
