Bobby McColl

Head Coach

Bobby McColl made an immediate impact upon his return to Roberts Wesleyan University. McColl, who was hired as head women's soccer coach in February of 2025, guided the Redhawks to an impressive 11-3-5 record and their East Coast Conference Championship. The Redhawks reached the NCAA Division II Championship for the third time in program history and ended the season with an 11-game unbeaten streak (7-0-4). McColl was named the 2025 National Christian College Athletic Association Division I and Midwest Region Coach of the Year at the end of the season. McColl previoulsy led the Redhawks for three seasons (2013-15), compiling an overall record of 35-20-5 as Roberts transitioned from NAIA to NCAA Division II.  A native of Glasgow, Scotland, McColl guided Roberts to a 12-5-3 record, a berth in the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championship game and spot in the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2015, his final season. McColl spent the previous six seasons as head coach of the men’s soccer program at Houghton University, where he led the Highlanders to a share of the 2021 Empire 8 spring regular season title and an appearance in the E-8 championship match in the fall. He served as the head men’s soccer coach at Daemen for three seasons after leaving Roberts in 2015. McColl also served as the head men’s soccer coach at Greenville University from 2012-13 and worked as a graduate assistant with the men’s and women’s programs at Roberts from 2009-12. McColl graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Wellness Management from Trinity International University (Ill.) in 2009 and earned his Master’s degree in Strategic Leadership from Roberts in 2011. He has been the Director of Player and Coach Development for the Cobras FC since 2015 and has extensive experience in sports ministry.   McColl played for three seasons at Union University (Tenn.) before finishing his collegiate career at Trinity International.  He also played with the Scotland Under-19 National Team, as well as with Motherwell FC in the Scottish Premier League.

Sara Smith

Head Coach

Sara Smith was announced as the programs first Head Coach of the brand new men’s and women’s swimming program in March of 2017. Smith was tasked with the creation of what is now the Roberts Swimming & Diving program! Sara’s background in swimming comes from being a competitive athlete in the Niagara LSC from the time she was 8 through her collegiate career. As an age group swimmer, Sara was a top qualifier at LSC championship meets, selected to Zone All-Star teams, Speedo Sectional qualifier and held many places in the LSC’s top-10. After high school, Sara went on to compete for the Nazareth College Golden Flyers where shew as a strong competitor. In her first year she placed in the top 12 at Empire 8 Conference Meet going on to place in the top 10 her remaining years. Smith joined Roberts after serving as the Program Director of Marlins Swimming, Inc, since 2012 and Varsity Swim Coach at Spencerport High School. Sara’s coaching resume includes coaching multiple athletes to top-10 finishes at the LSC level, 10+ LSC Champions, multiple LSC Zone-All Star Champions and Qualifiers, 5 Section V Champions, 5 NYS Qualifiers and over 5 dozen Marlin team records broken by athletes she has trained. Additionally, Smith was named the Assistant Coach of the United States Deaf Swim Team at the 2014 Deaf World Championship meet and Assistant Coach for Niagara LSC at Eastern Zone Age Group Championships in 2016. In addition to Sara’s coaching experience, she is a volunteer for the Niagara LSC as the secretary since 2015 as well as the Age Group Vice Chair since 2016. Sara graduated from Nazareth College in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and from St. John Fisher College in 2013 with her Masters in Business Administration. Outside of the pool, she owns and operates a 100% minority-owned construction business in Rochester, NY and is the managing director for a Not-for-Profit educational business in Henrietta, NY. Smith resides in Scottsville, NY with her husband Robert and son Ezekiel.

Rob Arrendell

Assistant Coach

Rob Arrendell enters his first year as assistant coach of the Women's Soccer program at Roberts Wesleyan University. He coached the RWU Men's Development team from 2000 to 2005 and both the Men's and Women's Development teams from 2012-2014. Last year he assisted Coach McColl with the Men's Soccer Team at Houghton University.  A 2000 Biology graduate of Roberts Wesleyan, Arrendell was a defender on the Men's Soccer program that competed in two NAIA National Tournaments and received the College's highest-ever NAIA national ranking coming in at #6. Coach Arrendell also graduated from Roberts Wesleyan with a Master's degree in Education in 2003 and has been teaching science for the Rochester City School District for the past 22 years. Rob lives in West Chili, N.Y. with his wife Tabitha, and their three children, Moises, Mya, and Mateo.

Aleah Martone

Assistant Coach

Aleah Martone joined the coaching staff for Roberts Wesleyan Women’s Soccer in 2025 after serving as an assistant coach at Houghton University for two seasons. Martone, from Spencerport, NY, received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with minors in Bible and mathematics in the spring of 2022 from Cedarville University and completed her MBA at Houghton. At Houghton, Martone helped the Highlanders to a pair of Empire 8 Tournament appearances in her two seasons as assistant coach. She played four seasons at Cedarville and tallied 18 goals and 11 assists during her career as she earned all-conference honors in each of her final three seasons.  A two-year captain, she was also garnered selections to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Team, the 2021 OCSA NCAA DII/NAIA Academic All-Ohio Team, and in 2019 played on the NCCAA Division I National Championship winning team. Her father, Mike Martone ‘94 was an assistant coach with the Roberts Men’s Soccer program in 2015.
