Scott Kunert
Head Coach
Bio Scott Kunert enters his ninth season at the helm of the Warrior baseball program. During his time at RCU, he coached one A.I.I. All-Conference player, one A.I.I. Gold Glove winner, four WHAC All-Conference players, two WHAC Gold Glove winners, eighteen WHAC All-Academic players, fourteen NAIA Scholar-Athletes, five USCAA All-Americans, eighteen USCAA Academic All-Americans, one USCAA Student-Athlete of the Year, and one NAIA Gold Glove winner. During his first season, Kunert led RCU to its highest USCAA coach’s poll ranking at #2 and best finish at the USCAA Small College World Series (3rd) in five years. Kunert played collegiate baseball at RCU as an infielder and pitcher. During his four years, the Warriors made the USCAA Small College World Series three times. After his junior year, Kunert was named a USCAA All-American Honorable Mention and A.I.I. All-Conference Honorable Mention, primarily serving as the team's closer. During his career at RCU, Kunert also earned USCAA Academic All-American three times and NAIA Scholar-Athlete twice. Perhaps his greatest baseball accomplishment, however, came after the conclusion of his senior year when he earned the USCAA's inaugural Student-Athlete of the Year Award. In addition to coaching at Rochester Christian, Kunert has served as an assistant coach with the Michigan Brewers (2015) and the Oakland Bulldogs (2015-present) organizations. Kunert earned his Bachelor's degree from RCU (then Rochester College) in December 2015 in Secondary Education, with a focus on Mathematics and a minor in Biology. He and his wife, Chelsea, along with their son Carter, currently reside in Warren, MI.

Dylan Benson
Assistant Coach
Bio Dylan Benson enters his sixth year as a member of the Warriors' coaching staff. He works primarily with the pitching staff and also serves as the program's Recruiting Coordinator. Benson graduated from Fenton High School in 2013 and played his first two years of college baseball at Mott Community College in Flint, MI. During his sophomore campaign with the Bears, he served as the team's closer, posting an impressive, team-leading 0.66 ERA, and also led the pitching staff in appearances, saves, and strikeouts per 9 innings. During his time at Rochester Christian, he also served as the team's closer, leading the team in saves during both of his years with the Warriors. During his senior year, Benson was named a team Battalion Leader. COACH KUNERT ON BENSON: "Dylan is as blue-collar a player as I have ever coached, and I knew that it would carry over into his coaching style when he joined our staff. He brings a different thought process and perspective to our coaching staff, coming from a successful baseball program at Mott, and constantly challenges what we are doing to make us better. He brings a tough, old-school mentality with new-school techniques to both our pitching staff and lineup. In his years playing under me and now coaching with me, I have seen tremendous growth from Dylan both as a coach and as a person. He is a true player's coach, building quality relationships with every player and pushing them to be better every day. We are very fortunate to have him be such a large part of our program."

Austin Kunert
Assistant Coach
Bio Austin Kunert enters his third year as a member of the Warriors' coaching staff. Kunert is the main offensive coach and specializes in working with the infielders. Kunert graduated from Chippewa Valley High School in 2015 and played college baseball at (then) Rochester College. During his career at Rochester Christian, Kunert was a multiple-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete and was the Warrior's first WHAC Gold-Glove recipient. COACH KUNERT ON AUSTIN: "As a player, Austin was a gritty as they come. He is a tremendous leader and worker, and I knew he would set a great example for our players. It has been a great pleasure watching him grow into his own as a coach. He understands the game, but more importantly, he understands the players and how to effectively communicate with them and build relationships. It has also been a great privilege and a lot of fun to be coaching with my brother."
