Rich Morris
Head Coach
Morris was named Rollins College Director of Health Education and Student-Athlete Well-Being. Morris is coach to Rollins' only two NCAA Division II All-America swimmers in Kamel Tejeda and Audry Kula. Tejada, as a junior in 2009, placed 11th in the 200-yard freestyle, 13th in the 500-yard freestyle, 21st in the mile, and 27th in the 1000-yard freestyle. Tejeda returned as a senior to qualify for two events at the National Championships. As a freshman in 2013, Kula shattered the Tars record book and became the programs first Sunshine State Conference Swimmer of the Year. She finished fifth in the 200-yard butterfly, 13th in the 100-yard butterfly and 20th in the 100-yard freestyle. Kula also won the SSC Championship in the 100-yard butterfly, setting conference, championship and school records. In 2005, he led both the men's and women's teams to national rankings and had many swimmers just miss participating in the NCAA Division II National Championships, which was hosted by Rollins at the YMCA Aquatic Center. Morris oversaw all operations of the event that set many national records. Also that season, Morris was honored as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee "Coach of the Year," the second time he has received the award during his career (1996). Morris has also spearheaded and hosted the first-ever Sunshine State Invitational, which directly led to the Sunshine State Conference adopting swimming in 2010-11. In the summer of 2008, Morris was selected as keynote speaker for all athletics coaches at Lake Brantley School District. He shared his presentations "Dealing with Millenial Parents" and "How I Learned to Thank My Parents for Letting Me Grow Up." In 2004, he served as President of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. Prior to building the Tars swimming program, Morris began his coaching career as the head coach of the Ringgold Municipal Swim Team in Chattanooga, serving in that capacity from 1979-84. He then moved onto Goucher College to become the Aquatics Director and head swim coach, leading the Gopher women to back-to-back Chesapeake Women's Athletic Conference championships. Morris and his wife Lisa have two children, Nathan and Ashley. Coach Morris year-by-year
