Kevin Robinson

Coach

Robinson helped the Fightin' Engineer women's golf team through outstanding 2014 and 2015 seasons that featured second-place finishes at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships. Some of the marks set over the past two years include: * Low team 18-hole score (313) * Low team 36-hole score (650) * Low individual 18-hole score (74) * Low individual 36-hole score (154) * Best Conference Championship finish in school history (2nd place) * Three of the five lowest individual single-season stroke averages in program history (84.00; 84.14; 84.19)     The last two years also include the top six single-round scoring performances in Rose-Hulman history.  Rose-Hulman also placed two players on the all-conference team in 2014 and 2015.  The recent 2013 and 2014 seasons for Rose-Hulman also featured the HCAC Freshman of the Year. Robinson has recruited five of the seven all-conference performers in the history of Fightin' Engineer women's golf. On the women's basketball side, Robinson's efforts have been instrumental in helping the roster size double over the last five years as the team's recruiting coordinator. The women's basketball team achieved new heights in 2015-16, finishing 23-4 and advancing to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship game for the first time in program history.  The efforts included a school record 18-game winning streak.  Robinson is part of a program that has recorded back-to-back winning seasons and defeated Franklin College in the HCAC Tournament for two consecutive years. The Fightin' Engineers have qualified for the HCAC Women's Basketball Tournament during all six of Robinson's years as assistant coach. In 2012, the Fightin' Engineer golf team placed third in the HCAC with a squad comprised entirely of freshmen and sophomores.  Robinson helped the Engineers compile a fourth-place finish in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's golf championships in his first season in 2010.  Two players, Lindsey Gault and Allison Luther, recorded career-best 18 and 36-hole performances within a two-week span of working with Coach Robinson. In 2013, the Fightin' Engineers finished second in the conference and the squad set the first set of school records in all the categories listed above. Robinson's coaching career contains significant accomplishments in both golf and basketball.  Over five seasons as a basketball coach at Bluffton High School in South Carolina, he led the junior varsity squad to a 59-27 record.  During his tenure at Bluffton, eight former players earned all-region honors, one player was named all-state and nine players went on to collegiate basketball careers. Robinson's golf career has included work as a senior assistant golf professional at some of the nation's top courses.  His career stops have included Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, South Carolina, ranked 38th nationally by Golfweek magazine in its list of America's best classical golf courses; Lost Dunes Golf Club in Bridgman, Michigan, ranked 41st by Golfweek magazine in its listing of America's best modern golf courses; The Bay Club at Mattapoisett in Massachusetts; Whisper Rock Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona; and most recently, The Landings Club in Savannah, Georgia. His playing career includes winning the 2002 Yeamans Hall Club Pro-Member crown, the 2002 Charleston Open Qualifier and the 2004 Lost Dunes Invitational.  Other top finishes included a third place at the 2005 Hilton Head PGA Championship, seventh place at the 2005 Hilton Head Open, 11th at the Indiana PGA Monticello Open in 2013, 15th at the 2006 New England PGA Assistants Championship, a 34th place at the 2006 New England PGA Championship.  His lowest competitive round was a score of 68 at the 2006 New England Open. A PGA of America member, Robinson earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Western Carolina University and served on the PGA of America's President's Council on Growing the Game in 2007 and 2010.  He is also a member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association of America. Coach Robinson married Dr. Michele Weiberg-Robinson in August 2016.
