Head Coach
Crawford's program has taken major steps over the last two years, with performances including back-to-back men's conference championships in 2015 and 2016. Crawford led the 2015 and 2016 men's teams to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, the first team conference titles in 26 years of the program. Individually, Crawford has coached two swimmers to seven total All-American honors since 2014. Ellie Hong has tied Rose-Hulman's swimming school record with four career All-American honors. Orion Martin is a three-time All-American. In 2014 and 2015, two All-American swimmers helped vault Rose-Hulman into the spotlight as one of the top squads in the Midwest. Ellie Hong and Orion Martin earned All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Swimming Championships during both years for the program's first All-American awards since 2003. Martin completed a career sweep as the four-time CCIW Men's Swimmer of the Year and also received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for the upcoming 2016-17 academic year. Hong was named CCIW Women's Swimmer of the Year in 2016. Crawford has been named CCIW Men's Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2016. The awards marked his third and fourth conference Coach of the Year honors in a career split between two NCAA Division III institutions. He earned Men's Coach of the Year honors in the Midwest Conference in 2007 and 2008 after leading the team to second-place finishes. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, Crawford helped lead Rose-Hulman to a strong third-place men's finishes in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships. In 2012, junior Matt Ross was named Outstanding Performer of the Meet to lead a Rose-Hulman effort that featured six school records, two individual conference titles, two NCAA provisional national qualification marks and five all-conference performances. Crawford has coached a total of 28 individual and relay conference champions, while having teams recognized for their academic accomplishments by the College Swimming Coaches Association during his coaching career. Prior to his time at Monmouth, Crawford earned a bachelor's degree in history with a secondary education minor from Xavier University in 2001. He also completed a master's degree in recreation and sport management at Indiana State University in 2003, while serving as an assistant coach at DePauw University.
