Matt Sherman
Head Coach
Sherman joined the Saddleback Cross Country program as an assistant coach in 2002 before being hired full-time as the head coach of the cross country programs in 2010. He has helped to develop both the men's and women's cross country programs and has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success while working with the middle distance and distance runners on the track and field teams. Sherman earned his B.S. degree in Kinesiology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2002 and recently added a M.A. degree in education. Sherman started his coaching career at Cuesta College in 1997 where he worked as an assistant coach for both men's and women's cross country and track and field until 2002.

Mark Blethen
Head Coach
Blethen took over both the men's and women's cross country programs as well as the men's and women's track & field programs at Saddleback College. Coach Blethen began his coaching career at San Luis Obispo High School, then quickly moved on to the collegiate level where he coached nine seasons at the community college level and two seasons at the University of Delaware.

John Klink
Assistant Coach
Klink moved to Dana Hills High School, where he coached football and served as the head track and field coach. He later became the athletic director and remained the head coaching duties for the track program. In 1994, Coach Klink became the head track and cross country coach at Saddleback College. After serving in that capacity, Coach Klink step aside to devote more time to his family. To this day, Coach Klink serves as an assistant track coach, specializing in hurdles. During his long tenure as a track coach, Coach Klink has turned out several top ranked hurdlers at the high school and collegiate levels. Coach Klink earned his bachelors of science degree from Cal-Poly and a Masters degree from the University of La Verne. Coach Klink is married and has three children and three grandchildren. His hobbies are surfing & golf. Of course, his true passion is track and field.

Johnny Quinn
Assistant Coach
Quinn had a tremendous career as a vaulter himself, competing at UCLA from 2007-2011. As a part of the Bruin program, he was an NCAA All-American in 2008 when he tied for 8th in the nation at the NCAA Outdoor Nationals. He followed it up by being named All-Pac 10 in 2009 when he finished 15th. Previous to college, Quinn was a Division IV champion and a state finalist in 2005 & 2006 at St. Margaret's.
