D.J. Sanchez
Head Coach
Sanchez was named Sooner Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2014. Sanchez has coached 23 first- and second-team all-conference players at SGU, as well as All-Americans Randi Yousey and Brooklyn Sparks. The Cavs claimed the program's first-ever regular-season Sooner Athletic Conference title in 2014 and was named an NAIA Scholar Team in 2014 and 2015. The record-breaking 2014 season included a program-record 20-game winning streak and 27 Sooner Athletic Conference victories. Sanchez played collegiately at the University of Oklahoma from 2006-2009. While at OU, she helped the Sooners to an overall record of 143-37. Sanchez was a three-time All-Big 12 team member as a pitcher, and an NFCA All-Region and NFCA All-American during her time in Norman. She finished her career ranked in the top four in career wins, strikeouts, winning percentage and appearances for the Sooners. Due to her collegiate success, she was the No. 2 overall pick in the National Pro Fastpitch draft - the highest-ever pick for an OU player. Sanchez and her husband, Kyle, have one son, Cal. Dani Wondrasek, formerly Dani Dobbs, is entering her first year as an assistant coach at St. Gregorys University. Wondrasek played collegiately at the University of Oklahoma from 2008 to 2011. During her time at OU, she was a member of two Big 12 championship teams and finished her career with a trip to the Womens College World Series. Since graduation, she has been giving private hitting and fielding instruction. While at Moore High School, Wondrasek was also named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Oklahoma in 2005. Wondrasek is married to current SGU assistant coach, Ryan Wondrasek. Wondrasek spent the past two seasons serving as the assistant coach for the Cavalier softball team. In his two seasons there, Wondrasek was in charge of one of the top offenses and defenses in the country. As a team, the Cavaliers produced a record-breaking season statistically in 2014. St. Gregory's totaled program-best marks in batting average (.362), total bases (925), RBIs (419), hits (636) and runs (482). The Cavalier softball team captured its first regular season Sooner Athletic Conference title and advanced to the NAIA Softball World Series in 2014. In 2013, the Cavalier offense was ranked among the nation's best in triples (11), runs scored per game (5.9), runs batted in per game (5.3), total hits (431), average (.321), total runs scored (308), slugging percentage (.489), total RBIs (275) and home runs per game (0.85). The Cavalier defense had the nation's fourth-best fielding percentage at .968. Prior to St. Gregorys, Wondrasek spent five years serving as a varsity assistant baseball coach and catching instructor at Norman North High School. Under his guidance, Norman North produced back-to-back Oklahoma All-State catchers in 2011 and 2012. Along with his coaching duties, Wondrasek was also responsible for assisting in the maintenance of Norman Norths Tull Lake Field, one of the premier high school baseball facilities in the state. He is also the director of Wondrasek Catching, which provides private and group baseball and softball instruction for kids of all ages. Ryan currently resides in Norman with his wife, Dani.
