Coach
Massoels was named Director of Athletics at Saint Joseph's College October 12, 1999. The 1989 SJC graduate has been employed at his alma mater since 1990. In that time, he has served as Associate Director of Athletics, Director of Compliance, Sports Information Director, head coach of the men's and women's cross country and track and field programs, and professor in the College's Physical Education Department. During his tenure, Massoels has served on numerous Great Lakes Valley Conference and NCAA committees. Massoels was a National Representative for the NCAA Division II Mens and Womens Cross Country/Track and Field Committee. In 2014, Massoels was elected the National Chair and served in that role until his term expires in September of 2015. Massoels has also served five years on the Baseball Midwest Region Appointment Committee (RAC). From 2012-14, Massoels served on the Great Lakes Valley Conference Awards Committee. In 2014, Massoels began service on the GLVC Steering Committee. In 2015, Massoels was appointed to a three-year term on the NCAA Regional Appointment Committee (RAC) for football. He also returned to the GLVC Awards Committee in the fall of 2015 as well. Massoels has coached 26 All-Americans and numerous Academic All-Americans in cross country and track and field. His men's track and field team captured the first-ever Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Championship in 1999. As a student at SJC, Massoels was a member of the cross country and track and field teams, serving as captain of both. He graduated from Saint Joseph's with a bachelor's in Journalism. A native of Whiting, Indiana, Massoels lives in Rensselaer with his wife, Teresa, and children Patrick, Samantha, and Megan.
