Head Coach
Amy LePeilbet brings extensive experience in team development, tactical leadership, and championship-level performance to the Salt Lake Community College Women’s Soccer Program. Entering her fourth season as head coach and sixth season overall with the Bruins, LePeilbet has established SLCC as one of the premier programs in the NJCAA while building a culture centered on player development, academic success, and competitive excellence. In Fall 2025, LePeilbet guided the Bruins to another historic season, leading SLCC to a Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular-season championship and a 15-3-3 overall record. Under her leadership, the Bruins earned their sixth consecutive appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament and continued their tradition of success on the national stage. LePeilbet was recognized for her leadership by being named the SWAC Coach of the Year, while nine SLCC student-athletes earned All-Region honors, including SWAC Player of the Year and SWAC Goalkeeper of the Year. The 2025 campaign continued a remarkable run of success for LePeilbet and the Bruins. In Fall 2024, she led SLCC to a standout season, capturing both the Scenic West Athletic Conference title and the Region 18 Tournament Championship. The Bruins made a deep postseason run, defeating the nation’s No. 1-ranked team and advancing to the NJCAA Final Four. For their accomplishments, the SLCC coaching staff was named the United Soccer Coaches West Region Coaching Staff of the Year. Defender Brooke Gardner and goalkeeper Elle Rafajko earned NJCAA All-American honors. During her first season as head coach in Fall 2023, LePeilbet guided SLCC to another SWAC championship, a Region 18 Tournament Championship, and a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament. Forward Lexi Vernsey and goalkeeper Aliya Garrett earned NJCAA All-American honors, and LePeilbet was named SWAC Coach of the Year. Before taking over as head coach, LePeilbet served as associate head coach in Fall 2022, playing a key role in transforming the Bruins’ style of play and elevating individual performance. She led video analysis, tactical planning, and player development efforts as SLCC reached the NJCAA National Championship game and finished as national runner-up. Midfielder Jordan Roe and goalkeeper Tess Wiesiolek earned NJCAA All-American honors for their performances. Before joining SLCC, LePeilbet coached at the highest levels of the women’s game. She served as interim head coach of the Utah Royals (NWSL) in 2020 after previously working as assistant coach and director of professional development from 2018–2020. In 2019, she led the Utah Royals Reserves to the WPSL National Final and was named Mountain Conference Coach of the Year. She has also coached with U.S. Youth National Teams at the U23, U20, and U18 levels. LePeilbet enjoyed a distinguished professional playing career as a defender for the U.S. Women’s National Team, earning 84 caps from 2004–2013. She helped the United States win gold at the 2012 London Olympics and silver at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She was selected No. 4 overall by the Boston Breakers in the 2009 WPS Draft and was named WPS Defender of the Year in both 2009 and 2010. She concluded her professional career with FC Kansas City, winning back-to-back NWSL Championships in 2014 and 2015 and earning NWSL Best XI recognition after playing every minute of her final season. At the collegiate level, LePeilbet was a four-year starter at Arizona State University, where she helped lead the Sun Devils to three NCAA Tournament appearances. She was a three-time First-Team All-Pac-10 selection and a two-time All-American. LePeilbet holds a USSF A Senior License and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Arizona State University.

Marli Berg
Assistant Coach
Marli Berg (formerly Marli Martin) is entering her fifth season as an assistant coach with the Salt Lake Community College Women’s Soccer Program. Since joining the Bruins in 2022, Berg has been a driving force behind the program’s continued success, bringing extensive coaching experience, a strong player-development background, and a commitment to building a championship culture both on and off the field. Over her four seasons at SLCC, Berg has played an integral role in the Bruins’ rise as one of the premier programs in the NJCAA. In 2025, she helped guide SLCC to a Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular-season championship, a 15-3-3 overall record, and a sixth consecutive appearance at the NJCAA National Tournament. The Bruins continued to set a standard of excellence, earning national recognition while developing student-athletes who excelled academically and athletically. Berg’s impact was especially evident during the historic 2024 season, when the Bruins captured both the SWAC title and the Region 18 Tournament Championship before making a memorable run at the NJCAA National Tournament. SLCC defeated the nation’s No. 1-ranked team to advance to the Final Four, and the coaching staff was honored as the United Soccer Coaches West Region Coaching Staff of the Year. Beyond the team’s accomplishments on the field, Berg has helped foster a culture focused on academic achievement, leadership, and preparing student-athletes for success beyond soccer. A Utah native from West Jordan, Berg has spent more than two decades investing in the growth of soccer in her home state. She currently serves as a coach with Utah Avalanche, where she leads the 08/09 ECNL Girls team, and she previously contributed to youth development through a variety of club, high school, Olympic Development Program, and camp settings. She also serves as head coach of the #SheBelongs Refugee Soccer team, a global initiative that uses soccer to create inclusive and empowering opportunities for girls while promoting connection, confidence, and belonging. Before joining SLCC, Berg began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at Colorado State University Pueblo, where she also worked with the Pueblo Rangers Soccer Club. Her contributions to youth soccer earned her the Colorado Youth Soccer Club Coach of the Year honor. As a player, Berg developed her competitive foundation while playing on boys’ teams before joining Utah Avalanche, where she was part of a dominant club team that won five consecutive state championships from 2001–2005. At Cottonwood High School, she earned three All-State selections, four All-Region honors, and was named Utah Region III MVP. Berg continued her playing career at Colorado State University Pueblo, serving as team captain and helping lead the program to a historic Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship appearance. She led the team in goals and assists during her senior season and earned RMAC All-Region First Team honors. Berg holds a USSF B License and earned her degree in Art–Graphic Design from Colorado State University Pueblo.
