Moné Peoples

Head Coach

Peoples joined the San Francisco State women's basketball program ahead of the 2024-25 season. She was named interim Head Coach prior to the start of the 2024-25 season and had the interm tag removed prior to the 2025-26 season. In her first year leading the program, Peoples increased the team's win total by four games and limited opponents to almost four fewer points per game than the previous season. Prior to San Francisco State, Peoples was the assistant coach for City College of San Francisco dating back to June 2022. During her time there, City College went 45-13. Her duties included developing game strategies and practice plans, scouting and recruiting players, and monitoring academics. Peoples served as an assistant coach at nearby Lick-Wilmerding from 2016 to 2022. Peoples also brings professional playing experience to the program. From September 2016 to January 2019, she played for Olympia Basket Trani in the top Italian basketball league. From September 2013 to June 2016, Peoples played for Fjolnir Karfa in Reykjavik,Iceland. There, she was selected as team captain and was named league MVP and Import Player of the Year. Peoples graduated from University of West Georgia in 2013. As a member of their women's basketball team, Peoples earned All-Conference honors in addition to being named Team MVP.

Daron Sims

Assistant Coach

Daron Sims, a seasoned basketball coach, brings a wealth of experience to his current role as Assistant Coach and Player Development Coach at City College of San Francisco. He joins the program ahead of the 2024-25 season. Since joining CCSF in August 2021, Sims has played a crucial role in player development, recruiting, practice and game planning, and strength and conditioning. His efforts have contributed to an impressive 85-11 record for the Rams over three seasons, including a CCCAA State Championship, another state championship appearance, and a Sweet 16 appearance. Under his assistance, more than 20 players have earned Division 1 and Division 2 scholarships.    Before his time at CCSF, Sims coached at various levels, including as Director of Next Level Basketball, Assistant Coach for Oakland Rise Women’s Semi-Pro Team, and AAU coach for San Francisco Soldiers and Work Hard Play Hard SF. He also worked as a Basketball Coach at Drew College Preparatory School and Site Director for Legarza Basketball Camp, managing large teams and overseeing player development for 10 years while playing in college and in Europe.    Sims' coaching foundation is built on his impressive playing career. A standout player at the University of West Georgia, he was twice named All-Gulf South Conference and earned All-America honors. Sims was inducted into the University of West Georgia Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019, recognizing his contributions, including leading the Wolves to Conference playoff appearances and an NCAA Division II Tournament appearance. Sims was also a participant in the NABC Reese’s All-Star Game.     Additionally, Sims has professional playing experience in Europe, with stints in Italy and Iceland, where he won multiple championships and honed his skills before transitioning into coaching. His diverse background as both a player and coach at various levels of competition makes him a valuable asset to SF State’s basketball program.

Candace Archer

Assistant Coach

Archer joins the coaching staff in January 2026, ahead of the 2026 track & field season. Prior to SF State, Archer was a Assistant Coach at Columbia University. She has her USATF Level One certification. Archer ran cross country and track at West Virginia University and graduated with a degree in Strategic Communication Management. She completed a Master's in Coaching and Sport Education at West Virginia in 2021.
