Santa Rosa Junior College Men's Swimming

McCormicks leadership the SRJC womens swim and dive team has finished in the top 3 in the state eight times, in the top 5 fourteen times, and in the top 10 every year she has coached.  McCormick is a faculty member in the Kinesiology, Athletics and Dance Department and has taught and coached at SRJC since the Fall of 2000. McCormick was also SRJCs head womens water polo coach for 14 years. Prior to taking over the mens swim and dive program in 2001, McCormick was an English teacher at Piner High School, in Santa Rosa, CA where she was also the head swim coach for six years.  She has been coaching swimming for over 25 years including positions with the Santa Rosa Neptunes, Piner and Florin High School, and the UC Davis womens team. McCormick went undefeated in the North Bay League as a varsity swimmer at Montgomery High School.  After graduation she was an All American backstroker for the Bear Cubs, and later transferred to finished her swimming career at the University of California, Davis.  As an Aggie McCormick was team captain as well as an All Conference and All Academic Athlete.    McCormick graduated Summa Cum Laude from UC Davis with a Bachelors Degree in English, with minors in Education and Kinesiology, as well as with a single-subject teaching credential.  She received her Masters in Education with an emphasis in  from the University of California, Berkeley.   McCormick is a crossfit athlete and still trains and competes in masters swimming occasionally. She is a proud Santa Rosa native and loves spending time with her husband Peter and their sons Lucas and Jack.

Irwin was a gymnast and standout diver for Montgomery High School, Santa Rosa, CA.  He then continued his diving career at SRJC.  While competing for the Bear Cubs, Irwin was an All American on both boards, a school record-holder, a regional champion, a conference champion, and the conference Male Diver of the Year in 2006. Irwin resides in Santa Rosa and enjoys spending time with his wife Lauren and dog Rex. He is still competes in motor cross and enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Denize began his coaching career with Woodlands Recreational Swim Team in the east bay, serving as their head coach for three years.  Denize also coached four years at the high school level for both Northgate and Piner high schools.  He was SRJCs assistant mens water polo coach 2005-2007.   Denize attended Northgate High School in Walnut Creek, where he participated in varsity aquatics.  After graduating he attended Diablo Valley College where he was an All American water polo player and swimmer. Denize resides in Rohnert Park and enjoys spending time with his girlfriend Ashley and dog Joey.  He is an avid sports fan and enjoys spending time with friends and family.
