Head Coach
Kevin May returns to the Seton Hill staff for his eighth season in 2026. May begins his second season as head coach after spending six seasons as defensive coordinator. His first season as head coach was highlighted by a 16-7 win over #6 ranked CalU, the programs first win over a top 10 program. Seven members of the team earned All PSAC Honors and the team had the PSAC West Rookie of the Year. Over his six seasons on the Hill, May has coached two PSAC West Defensive Athletes of the Year, one All American and two finalists for the Cliff Harris Award. Kevin has coached three All Region performers and 14 All PSAC West performers including eight first team All PSAC West selections. In his first season on the hill, the Griffins were 11th in the PSAC in total defense. May coached All PSAC West performer Jayden Emberton-Gaines who led the Griffins in tackles with 102 and tied for the PSAC lead with 10.2 tackles per game. Defender Fardan Allen also earned All PSAC West honors. In 2021, the Griffins finished with five wins, tying the second most in school history. The defense was third in the PSAC in points allowed and yards allowed. The defense produced two All PSAC, All Region and All Americans. In 2022, May coached the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year in Jaylen McDuffie. McDuffie also earned All Region and All American honors and was a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award. He was also named to the 2023 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute Class. The Griffins were first in the PSAC West and 11th in Division II in total defense (264 yds per game). In 2023, May again coached the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year in Dioh Desuah. Desuah was an All Region player in addition to being a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award. Three members of the defense earned All PSAC West honors. SHU led the PSAC in sacks with 39. May's "Flex" Defense was also featured in an ESPN article in the summer following the 2023 season. May comes to Seton Hill from Texas A&M-Kingsville where he spent the past four seasons. He spent his first three seasons there as the linebackers coach and was the special teams coordinator and safeties coach last season. During his three seasons as linebackers coach, the Javelinas led the Lone Star Athletic Conference in sacks. As safeties coach, the team was first in the league in pass defense and third in total defense. Prior to Kingsville, May spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at the University of Wyoming. After graduation, Kevin spent a season coaching at his alma mater, Occidental College as a defensive assistant. May was a four year starter at safety and outside linebacker at Occidental College. He earned the Captain's Award for leadership and Monster Award for work in the weight room. He graduated with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Economics from Occidental and earned his Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance at Kingsville.

Dominic Hogan
Assistant Coach
Dominic Hogan serves as the Flex Linebackers Coach at Seton Hill University. Hogan will be entering his fifth season as an assistant coach and first season with the Griffins in the fall of 2026 after being hired in March of 2026. Before coming to Seton Hill, Hogan served as the Defensive Line Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NCAA D2). Hogan's only season continued to add to his background of increased production and development of athletes, during the 2025 season he increased sack production by 77% and developed 2 athletes to the NCAA Division One (FCS) level. Hogan began his college coaching career at Minnesota West Community and Technical College (NJCAA D3) serving as the Defensive Line Coach/Strength & Conditioning Coordinator. During Hogan’s one season as a Bluejay he contributed to the perfect rebuild of 0-8 in 2023 to 8-0 in 2024 while being ranked second in the nation at the NJCAA Division Three level. Hogan's position group hosted an All-MCAC selection at defensive tackle as well as increased production in sacks by 100% and improved defensive rushing allowed by 100 yards per game. Hogan began his coaching career in the high school ranks at Howards Grove High School in Howards Grove, Wisconsin. Serving as the school's Defensive Line & Running Backs Coach also holding a Defensive Coordinator title. Hogan's two seasons at Howards Grove led to an impressive beginning to his career; Hosting 1 All-State selection, 7 All-Conference selections, 2 college athletes, and the first playoff game victory in the school's history. Hogan is from Madison, Wisconsin and attended Lakeland University where he played a Hybrid Edge and Wrestled Heavyweight for the Muskies. Hogan's time at Lakeland led to obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sports Management & Leadership and later earned a Master of Education Degree in Adult Education and Administration at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

JaShawn Todd
Assistant Coach
JaShawn Todd will begin his first season with the Griffins as running backs coach. Prior to Seton Hill, Todd spent one season at the University of St Thomas and four years as a member of the football team at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. JaShawn had a spectacular playing career for the Ravens. He was a two time AFCA All American and a six time All Conference selection across multiple positions. JaShawn finished his career with 17 receiving touchdowns, 8 rushing touchdowns and three kick return and one punt return touchdown. At Benedictine, Todd was a two year team captain and a two year team spiritual leader. JaShawn was also vice president of the Black Student Union for three years. Todd graduated from Benedictine with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management.

Jake Frantl
Assistant Coach
Jake Frantl will begin his first season with the Griffins as tight ends coach. Frantl comes to Seton Hill after his collegiate playing career. Jake spent one season at Wisconsin Whitewater after beginning his career at the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Panthers ACC Championship team. While at Pitt, Frantl was the Executive Board Chairman for the SAAC where he was Community Service Chairman for two seasons. In that role he coordinated service initiatives with university and athletic leadership. Jake was an ACC Top Six for service winner in 2023 and 2024. He was also a member of the Christian Athlete Fellowship E-Board. Frantl graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelors of Arts in Communication. He earned a Masters of Science in Communication from Wisconsin Whitewater.

Grant Betts
Coach
Grant Betts begins his first season with the Griffins as offensive line coach and video coordinator. Prior to Seton Hill, Betts spent one season as the assistant offensive line coach at Nicholls State. While at Nicholls, Betts coached an offensive line that helped the team average over 4.4 yards per rushing attempt. Betts spent the previous year as a teacher and football coach at Enterprise High School in Enterprise, Alabama. In his one season at Enterprise, the team advanced to the semifinals for the first time in 31 seasons. Betts played collegiately at Troy where he started in 51 straight contests on the offensive line. As a senior he was a member of the leadership council and a second team All Sunbelt selection. He was a two time Sunbelt Conference champion. Betts graduated from Troy with a Bachelors of Science in Cyber Security and is currently working on a Masters of Business in Management from Troy.

Jackson McFarlane
Coach
Jackson McFarlane is entering his first season at Seton Hill University as the Wide Receivers Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Before his time at Seton Hill, McFarlane spent the 24 and 25 seasons at UVA- Wise. At UVA-Wise he was the Quarterbacks Coach, Special Teams Coordinator, and Academic Coordinator. During his time at Wise, the Cavaliers earned the most wins in the D2 era in program history. As well as the highest GPA in team history. Before his time at UVA-Wise, McFarlane was the Wide Receivers Coach at Quincy University. While at Quincy University he was part of an offense that was #1 in rushing in the GLVC and #24 in the country in rushing. McFarlane also coached one all conference Wide Receiver in his one year at Quincy University. Before coaching at Quincy University McFarlane played his college football at D2 East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma from 2019-2022. While a member of the ECU football program he was a four-year starter, Team Captain, member of the team’s leadership council, and team leader in receptions in 2021. In his final season of 2022, the ECU Tigers went 10-3 and won a bowl game. Prior to East Central University, McFarlane attended Ada High School in Ada, Oklahoma from 2014-2018. While attending Ada High School he was a three-year starter on the football team. McFarlane was part of the 2017 class 4A state runner up football team. He also was selected as an All-State Quarterback in 2017. He currently still holds the single season all-purpose yards record at Ada High School.

Jesse Salazar
Coach
Jesse Salazar begins his first season on the Seton Hill coaching staff in 2026. He will serve as the Griffins’ Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach. Salazar brings experience from the high school, junior college, Division II, and Division l levels, including most notably a stop at the University of Oregon. Prior to Seton Hill, Salazar served as Run Game Coordinator, Offensive Line Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator at East Central University. During his season with the Tigers, East Central improved in every major offensive statistical category from the previous year, defeated a ranked #12 Ouachita Baptist team for the first time in 13 years, earned a bowl appearance, and produced the most All-Conference offensive players in the Great American Conference. Before East Central, Salazar served as an Offensive Assistant at the University of Oregon, working with the offensive line, tight ends, and running backs with a focus on run-game development. The Ducks captured the 2024 Big Ten Championship, finished the regular season 13-0 as the nation’s No. 1-ranked team, earned a Rose Bowl appearance, and set a school record for most NFL selections in a single year with 10 players drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. Earlier in 2024, Salazar served as Co-Offensive Coordinator, Offensive Line Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator at Southwestern College. During his tenure, he helped rebuild the Jaguars’ roster from 25 returning players to a signing class of more than 115 student-athletes while helping the program earn a national junior college ranking. Salazar spent two seasons as Tight Ends Coach at Quincy University from 2022-23. During his tenure, the Hawks produced their first winning season in a decade while ranking among the nation’s top offenses. Quincy finished 12th nationally in passing offense in 2022 before leading the Great Lakes Valley Conference in rushing offense in 2023. Salazar’s first season, he mentored Quincy’s first All-Conference tight end in 5 years and had All-Conference tight ends in each of his two seasons as well as helped the program establish a school record by averaging 38.5 points per game during the 2023 campaign. Salazar began his coaching career at Ramona High School in San Diego, California before becoming Offensive Coordinator at Poway High School. Across five high school seasons, his teams captured four league championships, posted two undefeated regular seasons, advanced to multiple CIF playoff appearances, including a CIF Championship, and established numerous school offensive records while developing several collegiate football players.

Ross Fiegener
Coach
Ross Fiegener will begin his eighth season with the Griffins during the 2026 season. This season will be his second season as defensive coordinator. He will be the team's Defensive Line Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator. In his first season with the Griffins, the team won two PSAC West contests, the most since the 2016 season. In 2021, the Griffins won five contests, tying for the second most wins in school history. In 2022, Fiegener coached Dioh Desuah who was named a second team All PSAC West selection. In 2023, Fiegener coached the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year in Dioh Desuah. Desuah was an All Conference and All Region selection and was a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award. Two members of the defensive line earned All Conference honors. In 2025, Fiegener coached one All PSAC West selection. Last season, he coached the PSAC West Freshman of the Year and five members of his defense earned All PSAC West honors including two first team selections. Prior to Seton Hill, Fiegener spent one season at Texas A&M Kingsville as the football and baseball strength and conditioning coordinator as well as being the defensive line coach. He spent one summer working at the University of Texas at Austin Athletic Performance Department where he developed a year long strength and conditioning program for volleyball. Fiegener also coached at Vista del Lago High School for one season. Fiegener played four seasons at Occidental College where he was a team captain during his senior season. He also earned Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Year awards. Ross was a two time All SCIAC Academic Team selection. He is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Ross graduated from Occidental with a Bachelors of Arts in Kinesiology and has a Masters in Kinesiology from Texas A&M Kingsville.

Jonathan Burrell
Coach
Jonathan Burrell will begin his third season on the hill as a member of the coaching staff in 2026. He will coach the defensive backs and be the special teams coordinator. In his first season on the hill, Burrell coached two All PSAC West selections. Last season, Burrell coached one All PSAC West selection. Burrell spent the past two seasons at Milliken University where he was the defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator. He coached two All Conference performers during his two seasons at Milliken. A product of Louisville, Ky., Burrell began coaching at the high school level in his hometown before moving to Southern Oregon University in 2019 where he coached defensive backs. In the 2021 season, Burrell helped lead the defense at SOU to one of the program's best statistical years defensively. During the 2021 season, he also served as the special teams coordinator. Burrell earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Mount St. Joseph University in 2009, starting all four years for the Lions' football team.
