Swiney has led the field hockey team to a success that the program had not seen in more than a decade, as she has guided The Rock to the PSAC playoffs in three of her last six seasons. Prior to 2011, SRU had not reached the PSAC playoffs since 1987. Swiney inherited a Rock program that won seven games in four total seasons before she took over. In her first season with The Rock in 2010, Swiney led Slippery Rock to a 6-14 season. The six wins were the most for Slippery Rock since 1998. Under Swineys guidance in 2011, the Green and White defeated three teams that were ranked in the NFHCA Top-10 and scored 33 goals, the sixth highest total in the programs history. Seven of SRUs losses were just one-goal defeats. The team posted its second-straight six win season in 2011 and the 2012 squad finished with eight wins, tied for the fifth most in school history. For her efforts in 2012, Swiney was named as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division Coach of the Year. The team finished with another six-win season in 2013. 2014 marked another season in which Swiney continued to advance the program as SRU tallied nine wins, the fourth highest win total in program history, while once again earning a spot in the PSAC Tournament. Swiney led The Rock to another six-win season in 2015 and In addition to coaching two All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division selections in 2010 (Gabrielle Malishchak and Erin Moran), Swiney also oversaw a team that led all of Division II with a collective 3.55 grade point average. She replicated the latter feat in her second season, as The Rock once again led the nation in team GPA in 2011. Malishchak earned her third straight All-PSAC honor and Moran was named to the NFHCA Senior All-Star game. In addition to placing 21 student-athletes on the National Academic Squad, The Rock once again led the nation in team GPA in 2013. Swiney also coached two All-PSAC performers (Lindsay Brown and Kelsey Gustafson) and landed Brown on the NFHCA All-America team. The trend of success both on and off the field continued in 2014; SRU posted the highest cumulative grade point average of any NCAA Division II field hockey team, had five NFHCA Scholars of Distinction and one All-American (Kelsey Gustafson). Swiney joined The Rock staff after serving four seasons as American International Colleges first field hockey coach. She led the Yellow Jackets to two wins in each of their first two seasons before increasing the win total to five games in 2008 and six games in 2009. She also served as Assistant Compliance Coordinator at American International and was a member of the NCAA Division II North Region advisory committee from 2008-10, the National Field Hockey Coaches Associations All-American Committee and the North/South All Star Committee.
