Head Coach
Griggs was named the head women's soccer coach at Slippery Rock on March 30, 2015. She continued The Rocks tradition of being one of the top teams in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region by guiding SRU to a 13-6-1 record, an 11-4-1 mark in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play and a berth into the PSAC Tournament semifinals in her first season. Under her tutelage, Slippery Rock ranked second in the PSAC, and 28th in the nation, in goals scored with 46 while also ranking third in the league in goals allowed at 15. Griggs coached six all-conference athletes in Dara Demich, Caitlin Binder, Lynn Neef, Sam Thornton, Tess Keeley and Allison Harbart. Demich and Thornton went on to earn all-region accolades as well. Griggs has created a dynamic and mobile attack scoring 46 goals on the season, which ranked 30th in the nation. The dynamic attack also posted an impressive 13 different goal scorers. The Rocks impressive offense was matched by its stingy defense in 2015 as SRU ranked 33rd in the nation with just 15 goals allowed. The future is bright for Rock Soccer as it heads into the 2016 season. Griggs is coming off a one-year stint as the head coach at Division III Northland College in Wisconsin, where she led the team to an 11-9-1 overall record and an appearance in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference semifinals. She inherited a team that won a combined 20 games over the three years before her appointment as head coach. Six of Griggs players last fall were named to All-Conference honors following the season and one player was named to All-Region accolades. The team also performed well in the classroom, posting a collective GPA of 3.1 after the fall semester. In addition to her head coaching role at Northland, Griggs was also heavily involved in the overall student-athlete experience at the college. She served as the sports information director and the senior woman administrator in assisting the athletic director with institutional communication and adhering to conference policies. She also served as the Student Athlete Advisory Council advisor, helping with community outreach and enhancing the student-athlete experience. Prior to her one year at Northland, Griggs served as an assistant coach at Shippensburg University for four years under current Raider coach Rob Fulton, who was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and Atlantic Region Coach of the Year in 2013, Griggs final year with program. She helped Shippensburg to a 12-6-3 record in 2013 that included an appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs, where the Raiders were ironically knocked out of the tournament by Slippery Rock on The Rocks home field. While at Shippensburg, Griggs helped oversee a school record shutout streak of 11 straight games and helped the program to secure a top 25 national ranking. She was also instrumental in guiding the program to earn All-Academic Team honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. During her tenure in central Pennsylvania, Griggs was also heavily active in running camps and assisting with local club soccer. She brought her family-run business to the Harrisburg area to teach soccer camps and clinics to children between the ages of 4-18. She was involved with all aspects of running the camps and clinics, from hiring counselors and arranging schedules to planning on-field sessions and instruction. Griggs has also been named to the state and regional ODP coaching staff in 2016, and will help identify talent at the state and regional level to promote to the national stage for US soccer. Griggs grew up on the sidelines of the soccer pitch as her father, Steve Griggs, was the head coach of the mens program at Yale from 1975-97, where he won three Ivy League titles and made three NCAA Division I appearances. On top of her coaching experience, Griggs also brings experience from playing collegiate soccer at a high level. Griggs was a four-year starter at Dickinson College and was a four-time All-Conference selection in the Centennial Conference. She helped lead the Red Devils to their first NCAA tournament appearance and a trip to the Round of 16 in 2005. Over her four-year career, Griggs tallied 34 goals and 20 assists for 88 points. Entering the 2014 season, she was fourth on the all-time goal scoring ledger at Dickinson and 20th on the Centennial all-time goal scoring list. Her 88 points ranked fourth all-time in scoring at Dickinson and 19th all-time in the Centennial. She graduated from Dickinson with a bachelors degree in Spanish in 2007 and owns a National Diploma from the NSCAA and a C License from the United States Soccer Federation.
