Art O'Dwyer
Head Coach
O'Dwyer is a NCCP Level 3 certified volleyball coach who has been coaching with both boys and girls club and high school volleyball teams in the Calgary area since 1984. He was assistant coach of the University of Calgary Dinos men's volleyball team in 1985-1986 and 2005-2006. O'Dwyer is no stranger to coaching female volleyball, as he has been in charge of many female club teams, including the Canuck Club U18 girls team, which he guided to Nationals on May 13-15, 2011 in Abbotsford, BC. Previously with the Canucks program, he coached teams to four provincial championships and three national championships. O'Dwyer's coaching philosophy is based around hard work, passion and a shared vision in which a team of people can learn to work together in a selfless manner, and have fun doing it too. As a player, O'Dwyer was a member of the U of C Dinos men's volleyball team for five seasons (1977-1981, 1986-1987) and one year on the Canadian National Junior Team (1979). He continues to be an active volleyball player with the Canuck Classics. O'Dwyer, who was born and raised in Drumheller, Alta., moved to Calgary when he began his post-secondary learning in 1977. O'Dwyer completed both a Bachelor of Physical Education degree (1981) and a Bachelor of Education degree (1987) from the University of Calgary. Along with coaching, educating youth has been integral in his professional career as a physical education teacher, principal and school administrator. He and his wife Allison have three children - Edward, Beth and Carolyn. Art O'Dwyer Head Coach Art will continue into his fifth season as head coach for the 2015-16 season.
