Southern New Hampshire University Women's Field Hockey

Munson was named head field hockey coach at SNHU on August 23, 2013.  She is SNHU's first field hockey coach in over 30 years, as the school sponsored a team from 1977-81.  She recently wrapped up her first season. I am excited that Julie has agreed to serve as our head field hockey coach as we look to build a successful program, not only in the Northeast-10, but nationally, said SNHU Director of Athletics and Recreation Anthony Fallacaro.  Her coaching and recruiting experience at a pair of top Division I institutions was something that made her an ideal candidate for our position. Building a field hockey program at Southern New Hampshire University is a unique opportunity, one that truly excites me.  I look forward to laying a foundation upon which we can build a successful field hockey program where student athletes can find a balance between sport and academics and be successful on both the field and in the classroom, said Munson upon her hiring.  The athletic department at SNHU feels much like a family in which I can thrive, and I cant wait to get started. In the first varsity season since 1981, Munson fielded a roster of 22 players.  Freshman Amaris Taylor was named to the Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team. Prior to arriving at SNHU, Munson spent three seasons at Harvard University.  With the Crimson, Munson handled recruiting duties and served as acting head coach for the program in the spring of 2012 as Harvard went through a head coaching change.  During her tenure, Harvard had a total of nine All-Ivy League selections, including a pair of two-time honorees in Carly Dickson and Cynthia Tassopoulos. Before Harvard, Munson spent six seasons on the field hockey staff at James Madison University.  With the Dukes, Munson, a former collegiate goalkeeper at the University of New Hampshire, guided the teams goalies to lead the nation in goals against average (0.75) and shutouts (11) in 2008 while ranking second in save percentage (.820), after ranking second nationally in GAA and shutouts the year prior.  James Madison captured the Colonial Athletic Association championship and advanced to the NCAA tournament in three consecutive seasons (2006, 2007, 2008), and goalkeeper Kelsey Cutchins was a First Team All-America selection in 2007 and 2008.  Off the field, she coordinated recruiting and film exchange while also serving as the teams academic liaison. A veteran of numerous camps, Munson has been involved with CirclePlay camps since 2009 and designed the goalkeeper curriculum for the Lets Play USA Field Hockey camps held at James Madison.  Additionally, Munson has served as both a coach and selector on the regional and national levels of the USA Field Hockey National Futures program, and has worked closely with collegiate goalies and field players as an assistant coach for High Performance. Munson played at New Hampshire from 2000-03 and was an assistant captain her senior season.  A three-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad member, she was the UNH field hockey programs 2002 recipient of the Susan Kilmeister Memorial Award for dedication, accomplishment and sportsmanship.  She graduated from UNH in 2004 with a degree in psychology. Munson graduated from Dover (N.H.) High School in 2000 and was a three-time all-state selection in field hockey while also lettering in basketball and softball.

Lambert earned a degree in athletic training/pre-physician assistant. She currently is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), the Maine Athletic Trainers' Association (MATA), and the American Red Cross CPR, AED and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer.
