Jason Lamb

Head Coach

Lamb is the Athletic Director and head coach of the men's lacrosse program at Southern Virginia University. Lamb is going into his fourth year as head coach of the men's lacrosse program. Lamb comes to Southern Virginia from the University of Notre Dame, where he has served as director of operations for mens lacrosse since February 2012. During Lambs two seasons at Notre Dame, The Fighting Irish reached the NCAA Division I Championship semifinal and quarterfinal rounds in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Prior to his tenure at Notre Dame, Lamb was the director of lacrosse at NCAA Division II Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo., from 2010 to 2012. He oversaw the start-up of the Grizzlies mens and womens lacrosse programs prior to their inaugural season as members of the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association in 2011. During the summer of 2011, Lamb also joined the Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse as an assistant coach. His connection with the Outlaws helped facilitate a match between Adams State and WILA-rival Colorado Mesa University at Mile High Stadium. From 1995 to 2010, Lamb was the head mens lacrosse coach at Brigham Young University amassing a 213-69 (.755) record and guiding the Cougars to three Mens Collegiate Lacrosse Association national championships and seven Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference titles during his tenure. In 2006, Lamb was named MCLA Coach of the Year. Lamb was also instrumental in organizing the MCLAa national organization for institutions that do not sponsor intercollegiate lacrosse at the varsity leveland served as the MCLAs president from 1997 to 2003. BYU is currently a Division I-affiliate of the MCLA, while Southern Virginia competed at the MCLAs Division II-level from 2004 to 2012. As a student at BYU, Lamb had a standout career on the mens lacrosse team serving as an on-field coach and team captain during his junior and senior seasons. Following graduation, he became the Cougars first-ever non-playing coach. Lamb has also been successful head coach at the international level of lacrosse leading the USA West All-Stars to a 34-5 (.872) mark to go along with several international titles, including the 2002 Open Division Championship at the Lacrosse Federation World Games in Perth, Australia, the 2004 Prague Cup in Prague, Czech Republic, and the 2006 ASPAC Championship in Osaka, Japan. The Rocky Point, N.Y., native graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelors degree in Italian. He served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rome, Italy. Jason Lamb resides in Buena Vista with his wife, Megan and two sons, Jacob and Shawn. Hand serves as an Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach and Athletics Business Manager for Southern Virginia University.  Hand previously served as an assistant men's soccer coach and assistant women's basketball coach during the 2014-2015 season.  Hand earned a bachelors degree in recreation management from High Point University and recently completed his masters degree in sports administration from Liberty University.  Hand and his wife, Danielle, reside in Buena Vista, Va. with their beautiful daughter McKynlee.

Coach

Cox is going into his third year as an assistant coach for the Southern Virginia University baseball program. Cox played during the 2010-2013 seasons and helped win more games (87) in program history while helping the Knights to postseason appearances each year. Cox also participated on the 2011 squad baseball's winningest season in its 14-year history - with a 30-10 mark and a second-place finish at nationals. In his four years, Cox set all-time records such as second in career games started (130), third in RBI (110), total bases (211) and hits (149). He also tied for the Knights' home run lead (3) while ranking second in slugging (.567) and on-base percentage (.457) and third in batting average (.367). Cox played for the Santa Fe Fuego in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and helped them to a Pecos League championship and Northern Division title during the summer of 2014. He graduated with a bachelors degree in Business Management and Leadership from Southern Virginia University in May 2014. Tyler and his wife, MaKenzie, a member of the women's soccer and softball programs at Southern Virginia, reside in Buena Vista.
