Southwestern Christian University Women's Track

Parent began his coaching career in 1992 as a track and field coach at Putnam City High School. Since his inaugural 2018-2019 season, SCU track and field has reached new heights, setting 37 indoor and outdoor men’s and women’s school records.  Men’s Indoor Track and Field: 43 national placers 9 All Americans 1 runner-up 1 national champion Women’s Indoor Track and Field: 23 national placers 3 All Americans 2 runners-up  Men’s Outdoor Track and Field: 38 national placers 10 All Americans 2 runners-up Women’s Outdoor Track and Field: 21 national placers 4 All Americans 1 runner-up 2 national champions 

Mitchell a Tulsa, Okla., native, attended Union High School.  He then attended Central State (now Central Oklahoma). After graduating in 1975, Mitchell began his coaching career at Tulsa Union.  After two years at Union, Mitchell accepted his first head coaching position at Edmond High School, where he built the program into a power house, winning eight state championships in track and cross country.  Mitchells teams also finished as state runners-up eight times. In 2003, Mitchell moved to Texas to coach at Harker Heights High School, Industrial High School, and Grapevine High School.  Over the course of his career, he has coached 43 individual state champions and all state recipients, as well as 12 High School All-Americans. Mitchell and his wife Marsha have been married for 36 years and have three children, Brooks, Cliff, and Williams, as well as two grandchildren Riley and Wyatt. Ron Mitchell enters his fourth season as head womens track and field coach at Southwestern Christian University.
