Brad Fleetwood
Head Coach
Fleetwood enters his fifth season as the head mens and womens golf coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2015-16 after joining the Bulldogs in January 2013. He has quickly elevated the Bulldog golf programs to among the best in the Central Region with one team qualifying for the NCAA Division II Championships in three of the past four seasons. In four years, Fleetwood has led the SWOSU mens golf team to two NCAA Division II Championships (2013, 2015) while also taking the womens team to the championships in 2014 and qualifying an individual for the event in 2013. Named the 2016 GAC Mens Golf Coach of the Year, Fleetwood has now coached 26 All-GAC selections, eight All-Central Region selections, eight All-American Scholars, two GAC Freshman of the Year and one GAC Player of the Year while at SWOSU. For the first time in his tenure, the SWOSU Golf teams were shut out of the NCAA Division II Championships in 2015-16, but that did not deter the Bulldogs from another banner season. The mens team had seven top-five tournament finishes, including victories at the GAC Fall Preview and the SBU Bearcat Invitational, before taking fourth at the GAC Championships and tied for sixth at the Super Regional just one stroke off of another national tournament appearance. For his efforts with the mens team, Fleetwood was named the GAC Mens Golf Coach of the Year while golfers Stefan Idstam and Jake Duvall both earned All-GAC and PING All-Region honors. Fleetwoods womens team finish in the top ten at every tournament in the 2015-16 season, with four top five finishes, including a third-place finish at the Great American Conference Championships. The Lady Bulldogs then placed eighth at the NCAA Division II Central Regional to conclude the season. The freshman duo of Gloria Choi and Elin Wahlin both earned First Team All-GAC honors while Emily Folsom was named to the Second Team and Chloe Thackeray earned honorable mention. SWOSUs fifth golfer in the lineup, Courtney Gourdin, also earned accolades by being selected as a WGCA All-Academic Scholar. The performance of the SWOSU Mens team highlighted the 2014-15 season as the Bulldogs returned to the NCAA Division II Championships and set a new program-best with an 18th-place finish at the tournament, held in Conover, North Carolina. Fleetwoods mens team boasted three All-GAC selections, each of whom won a tournament during the season, and finished second at the GAC Championships and fourth at the NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional Championships. Manuel Arzuaga, Jake Duvall & Stefan Idstam each earned All-Central Region honors and helped the Bulldogs to top-ten team finishes in each tournament during the regular season. SWOSUs womens team earned five top-five team finishes and advanced to the NCAA Division II Central Regional for the third straight season after earning a third-place finish at the Great American Conference Championships. The Lady Bulldogs had three players earn all-league honors, led by First Team All-GAC selection Ana Gomez and second team selection Margaret Musser. Emily Folsom was named an honorable mention All-GAC selection and was honored as the leagues Freshman of the Year. The Lady Bulldogs finished eighth at the NCAA Central Region to conclude the 2014-15 season. The 2013-14 season was another banner year for Bulldog golf under the direction of Fleetwood. The Lady Bulldogs finished in the top three at six events, including a first-place finish at the GAC Womens Preview and they advanced to the NCAA Division II Championships in Conover, N.C., after finishing second at Super Regionals. Ana Gomez finished second at the event to finish as an All-Central Region performer and she was one of four Lady Bulldogs to earn All-GAC honors. Gomez was named First Team All-GAC while Ashlynn Hall and Margaret Musser were second team selections and Jessica Heard earned honorable mention honors. Hall, Heard and Victoria Dobbie also added All-American Scholar honors following the 2013-14 season. SWOSUs mens team battled youth and inconsistency in Fleetwoods second season but rallied late in the year and finished in the top five in each of the final four tournaments to earn a berth in the Central/Midwest Super Regional. Fleetwoods squad was led by GAC Freshman of the Year Stefan Idstam, who joined the team at midseason and worked his way into a Second Team All-GAC and All-Central Region selection. Jake Duvall (second team) and Tommy Stirling (honorable mention) also earned All-GAC honors and helped the Bulldogs to a fifth-place finish at the GAC Championships. Fleetwoods first spring with the Bulldogs was a very successful one as he helped SWOSU both teams finish in the top three at the Great American Conference championships and had representatives at the national championships for the first time. The SWOSU men finished second at the GAC Championships and had three top 10 finishers. Past that, the men advanced to the NCAA Division II Championships in Hershey, Pa., following a fifth place finish at the NCAA II Central/Midwest Regional. Jake Duvall led the Bulldogs with a third place finish at the regionals. In their first-ever appearance at the National Championships, the Bulldogs finished in 19th place. In his first year, Fleetwood coached three men who earned All-GAC honors, including 2013 Great American Conference Player of the Year Wouter MyBurgh. MyBurgh was joined on the team by honorable mention selections Duvall and Tommy Stirling. Fleetwood led the SWOSU women's team to a third place finish at the GAC Championships and a fourth place finish at the NCAA II Central Super Regional. A team finish one spot higher would have resulted in the first team appearance for SWOSU's women at the NCAA National Championships as well. Ashlynn Hall finished fifth at the Super Regional to earn an individual spot at the championships, where she finished in the top 40. The women's team also had three players earn All-GAC honors in 2013. Ana Laura Gomez and Margaret Musser were both named to the first team while Hall picked up a second team selection. Fleetwood came to SWOSU with NCAA Division I experience after serving as an assistant coach at Jacksonville State University from 2008-2012. During his tenure at Jacksonville State, he helped the Gamecocks to a combined four Ohio Valley Conference championships and coached two OVC Players of the Year and five Freshmen of the Year. The Gamecocks also advanced to five NCAA Division I Regionals with Fleetwood on staff and he was twice nominated for the GCAA Jan Strickland Assistant Coach of the Year Award. Prior to his stint at JSU, Fleetwood served as the graduate assistant coach and assistant coach at Northeastern Oklahoma State University, his alma mater, from 2004-2008. The Riverhawks secured seven NCAA Regional bids including two national championship appearances. Fleetwood is a native of Duncan, Okla., and a 2000 graduate from Duncan High School and he has one daughter, Ally Catherine (6). He holds two degrees from Northeastern State, earning his bachelors of Business Administration in 2005 and a masters in Health and Kinesiology in 2007.
