Shane Brookshire

Brookshire is in his third season as the SWOSU Cross Country head coach after taking over the program in 2014. Additionally, Brookshire has added the role of Head Track & Field Coach with the Bulldogs sponsoring Womens Track & Field beginning in 2016-17. SWOSU finished fourth at the Great American Conference Championships for the second straight season in 2015 and advanced to the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships for a second consecutive year. The Bulldogs were led by all-conference selections Isela Sandoval and Lauren Parenica, who finished 13th and 16th, respectively, at the championships and they improved their finish at the regional by two places over the 2014 season. The Bulldogs collected three top-five finishes throughout the 2014 season, including fourth place finishes at both the Oklahoma State Jamboree and the Great American Conference Championship. Along with their fourth place finish at the GAC Championship, Brookshire helped to two freshmen to earn all-conference honors, the first Bulldogs to receive postseason accolades since 2012. Additionally, SWOSU reached the NCAA Division II Central Regional Championship for the first time in program history in 2014. Following the 2014 season, Brookshire worked towards his United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Endurance Specialist Certification. He received the certification in August 2015. During Brookshire's tenure as head coach, he has developed four Second Team All-Great American Conference selections and his teams have collected five top-five finishes. SWOSU has advanced to back-to-back Central Region Championships and both of his teams have been on the USTFCCA All-Academic honor roll. Brookshire came to SWOSU with four years of coaching experience along with five years of collegiate competition. He spent two years as an assistant high school coach in California before returning to the collegiate ranks with stints at Bemidji State and San Jose State. Before entering coaching, Brookshire had a successful five-year career in cross country and track & field at Cal State Stanislaus where he helped his cross country team to a second place finish in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in 2007. A native of Collegeville, Calif., Brookshire earned his bachelors degree in Physical Education from Cal State Stanislaus in 2010 and he completed work towards a masters degree from SWOSU in 2015.
