Adam Boyer
Coach
Boyer is entering his fifth year as the Head Coach for the mens soccer program. In his four seasons, Boyer has posted an overall winning-record of 37-34-3. The Golden Eagles are coming off their third straight winning season as they begin the 2016 fall campaign. In his fourth season at the helm in 2015, Boyer led Spalding to the programs first win over a nationally-ranked opponent, knocking off #23 Emory University in a 3-1 victory. The Golden Eagles finished the year 9-9-0 overall and 6-3-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC), which had them T-4 th in the conference standings. The 2015 season saw a program-best six players earn All-SLIAC awards. In just his third season at the helm in 2014, Boyer guided the team to their first-ever postseason appearance as NCAA Division III members. The Golden Eagles posted a 12-6-1 overall record, including a 6-2-1 record and 3 rd place finish in the SLIAC, which earned them a berth in the SLIAC Tournament. In just his second season in charge in 2013, Boyer guided the team to their first winning season in five years, going 10-9-0 overall and earning a 5th place finish in the SLIAC. After inheriting a team that went 1-15-0 in 2011, Boyer has made strong strides in turning the program around. In his first season as head coach in 2012, Boyer guided the team to a 6-10-2 overall record and 6th place finish in the SLIAC, a five-win increase from the previous season. In his first four seasons, he has also seen 18 players earn SLIAC All-Conference honors, in addition to SLIAC Newcomer of the Year Julio De Leon in 2012, while 21 players have also earned SLIAC All-Academic honors. He has also had three NSCAA All-Region selections and one NSCAA Scholar All-Region selection. The Golden Eagles have improved in every major category in all four seasons under Boyer, including finishing with the second best Scoring Offense in NCAA Division III Mens Soccer in 2014, averaging 3.42 goals per game. Most recently, James Kusak, who served under Boyer for two years as his assistant, went on to take the position of Head Men's Soccer Coach at Bluffton University (NCAA Division III). Prior to that, Boyers first GA, Will Van Nostrand, was named Head Mens Soccer Coach at Brescia University (NAIA), having previously spent one season as the Assistant Mens Coach at D2 Anderson University in South Carolina. A Louisville native, Coach Boyer came to Spalding after spending three years as the Assistant Coach at his alma mater, Centre College. Boyer spent three seasons at Centre as the full-time Assistant Mens Soccer Coach, helping guide the Colonels to two 2nd place finishes in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), a berth in the inaugural SCAC Tournament Championship game, and a combined record of 38-16-6. During that time, he coached one D3soccer.com All-American and one NSCAA Academic All-American. In addition to coaching at Spalding, Boyer serves as a coaching director at Louisville Soccer Alliance. Prior to that, he worked as the Technical Director for the Boys teams at Bluegrass Soccer Club out of Versailles, Kentucky, while also coaching the U23 Mens team at Louisville Soccer Alliance and directing the U9 Academy at Central Kentucky Soccer Club. He currently holds his USSF C License and NSCAA National Diploma. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and History from Centre College and recently began pursuing his Masters of Business Communication at Spalding. As a player at Centre, Boyer was an NSCAA 2nd Team All-American and NSCAA 1st Team Academic All-American in 2008. A three-time captain, Boyer was also a two-time 1st Team All-SCAC performer and three-time NSCAA All-Region selection. Boyer went on to play three seasons of professional indoor soccer with the Louisville Lightning of the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL), where he was named to the 2009-10 PASL All-League Honorable Mention team and finished as the organizations all-time leading goal-scorer. Prior to his collegiate career, Boyer won the 2006 USYSA National Championship with his youth club team, Javanon 87, in addition to winning USYSA Region II Championships in both 2003 and 2006. Boyer resides in Louisville with his wife, Marina Hoe Boyer. He enjoys the outdoors, reading and writing, and avidly supporting Arsenal FC.
