Head Coach
Coach Nelson began coaching the Women's Team at Spalding in October 2020, and the following year he also took the lead of the Men's Team at Spalding. Prior to coaching at Spalding, Coach Nelson was the Head Girls Golf Coach at Mercy Academy, where he was named the Region 6 Coach of the Year for the 2019-2020 Season. Before his coaching career, he was involved in the Golf Business in various capacities. He currently holds the position of General Manager at Oxmoor Country Club in Louisville, which is one of the three clubs that SU Golf calls home, along with Persimmon Ridge and Polo Fields Country Club.

Charlie Just
Assistant Coach
Just enters his 12th season as Head Coach of the Golden Eagle women's basketball team. 2016-17 also marks his 39th year as a head coach at both the collegiate and high school levels. Coach Just has amassed a 673-325 record in his 38 years as a womens head basketball coach. This past season, Just led the Golden Eagles to their third consecutive SLIAC Tournament appearance, and saw Maya Hardin and Alex Martin named to the SLIAC All-Conference Team. In 2015, Just guided the Golden Eagles to a 22-5 record, SLIAC regular season and conference championship and second straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Prior to coaching Spalding, Coach Just built a successful program at Mercy Academy in Louisville, compiling a record of 183 52 during his 7 year tenure with the Jaguars. Coach Just teams won five district championships, three regional championships and made three state tournament appearances, finishing as state runner-up in 1982. Coach Just then became the first full-time head womens basketball coach at Bellarmine University. In fourteen years at Bellarmine Coach Just teams won 299 games. Coach Just gained national recognition leading his teams to eight NCAA Division II tournaments, reaching the Elite Eight four times and the Final Four in 1994. In 1998, Just made a career change when he assumed the duties of head mens basketball coach at Bellarmine. He held that position for four seasons, qualifying for the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament in each of his last three years. His 2000-01 team posted the schools highest GLVC finish in nearly a decade. Coach Just moved back to womens basketball in 2003 when he accepted a position at Holy Cross High School. In his two years at Holy Cross, his teams finished with a 27-26 record and made two appearances in the Kentucky All-A State Tournament. He then assumed the reins at Spalding for the 2005-06 campaign. After starting slowly in a program that only had one winning season in school history, his 2008-09 Golden Eagle team reached the pinnacle of success by capturing the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national championship and setting numerous school records along the way. Coach Just was an All-Region and honorable mention All-State basketball player at St. Xavier High School in Louisville. He played his college basketball at Ohio Northern University, where he started for four years and earned all-conference honors each of his last three seasons. He scored 1,245 points during his career and still holds the school record for single-game assists (14) and career assists (414). Coach Just and his wife Deanna live in the Fern Creek area. They have two children, Kate and Kyle. In addition to his basketball duties Coach Just serves as Director of Compliance at the University.
