Spartanburg Methodist College Women's Cross Country

Roach is entering his second season as head coach of the Pioneer Men's and Women's Cross Country/Half Marathon programs.  The program produced a Region X team runner up position in both men's and women's during his first year as coach in 2015.  He also coached 3 individual All-Region honors on the women's program.    Ken Roach has over 11 years of coaching experience ranging from youth track clubs, high school athletics, and college level coaching.  In recent seasons, Ken coached the Carolina Homeschool Cougars (CHC) track and xc program.  During the five seasons,  CHC won 3 Independent XC Championships and a NACA National XC championship.  Also, during his prior coaching experience, he has coached 22 USATF JO National XC, 4 USATF JO T&F competitors and 5 National New Balance qualifying standard participants. He was a 1989 Spartanburg Methodist Alumni before finishing up his B.A. degree at Wofford College in 1992.  He has had an unique experience watching and coaching athletes from the youth stage all the way to the collegiate stage.   This gives him  prospective few coaches get to experience. Running is a passion for Ken and believes the love of the sport is foundational.  He was recently nominated in 2015 by Brooks Running Company as a national finalist for "Brooks Most Inspiring Coach of the Year Award".   Ken holds a USATF Level 2 Certification.
