Jason Holder

Head Coach

Jason Holder enters his 15th season as the head wrestling coach and an assistant professor within the Springfield College Department of Physical Education and Health Education for the 2025-26 campaign. Last season, he helped two student-athletes qualify for the NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championships with one earning All-America honors. One wrestler was named the 2025 NCAA Division III Most Dominant Wrestler and was ranked second across all three divisions with 21 pins.  In 2020, Holder was chosen as the NCAA Division III Northeast Region Co-Coach of the Year as he helped Springfield to a fourth-place finish as a team, produced four national qualifiers, and had the sixth-best team grade point average in the nation.  Prior to being hired as the head coach of the Springfield College wrestling program, Holder was the program's top assistant for four years, where he has served not only as an assistant wrestling coach, but also as an adjunct professor. Springfield College’s wrestling record in that time frame was 47-32 for a .595 winning percentage. The Pride was also the NEWA champions in 2011. His association honored Holder by naming him the NEWA Assistant Coach of the Year for 2010-11. Jason previously served as the varsity head wrestling coach at Plymouth State University for two years from 2005 through 2007. His teams finished seventh and eighth (of 15) in the NEWA end-of-season standings. Holder had an outstanding career as a wrestler at Boston University, from where he received his bachelor of arts degree in psychology in 2003, and his master’s in education, health, PE, and coaching in 2004. Holder recently received his doctorate in physical education with a concentration in teaching and administration from Springfield College. While at Boston University, Holder was a four-year starter and four-year captain of the wrestling team. He was a three-year All-Conference athlete, and an NCAA Division I National Qualifier in 2003. He was also a part of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee at BU from 2001 through 2003. Prior to BU, Holder wrestled at Timberlane High School in New Hampshire, where he was a three-time NH State Champion, a two-time New England Champion, and a high school national All-American. In addition, from 1997 to the present, Holder worked in various capacities – as a mental health counselor, a trip leader, and a camp counselor -- at the Adventurelore Programs in Danville, N.H. Coaching Highlights Helped Springfield College eclipse 1000 dual meet victories, the most of any Division III program in the country. Has sent 24 student-athletes to the NCAA Division III Championships, including the 2013 National Champion at 157, Devin Biscaha. Coached six All-Americans during in his first five seasons with the Pride, including Dylan Foley '14, who finished sixth overall at 165 in 2014. Helped student-athletes to multiple Scholar All-America accolades, including seven in 2018-19. Consistently competes with some of the best wrestling programs in the nation, bringing his team out-of-region annually. James Hamel

Assistant Coach

Hamel was the assistant coach at Boston University, where he helped the Terriers to a berth in the NCAA Championship tournament. Hamel has also coached a pair of All-Americans at Niagara County Community College in the 2012-2013 season. As a wrestler, Hamel was a two-time captain for the University of Buffalo, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Hamel also qualified for the NCAA Division I Championships two times as well as collecting 111 wins over his career, good enough to be the third most wins in University of Buffalo history.

Tyler Banks

Assistant Coach

Banks will enter his second season working with the Springfield College wrestling program during the 2016-17 season. After earning his Bachelor's degree in Exercise Phsyiology with a minor is Psychology from Hofstra University in the spring of 2013, Banks will be working to obtain his Master's degree in Athletic Counseling while at Springfield. Prior to his arrival at Springfield College, Banks spent the 2014-15 season as an Assistant Coach at Brown University, where he helped lead two student-athletes to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in St. Louis last Spring. At Hofstra, Banks wrestled at 157 and was ranked No. 2 in the CAA preseason poll going into his final season with the Pride.

Dylan Foley

Assistant Coach

Foley will enter his second season working with the Springfield College wrestling program, and first year as a graduate assistant coach during the 2016-17 academic year. Graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Springfield in the spring of 2015, Foley will be working to obtain his Master's degree in Athletic Administration. The Southborough, Mass. native recently received his Master's in Business Administration from Springfield College in the spring of 2016, as he was was one of 174 student-athletes across the nation to be awarded a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Postgraduate Scholarship. Foley will bring a lot of experience to the room, as he was one of the most decorated student-athletes to pass through the coveted Springfield College wrestling program .A two-time NWCA Scholar All-American and the 2015 New England Wrestling Association Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year, Foley qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships for the second time in his career this season after winning the NCAA Northeast Regional title at the 165 pound weight class.  In 2014, Foley earned All-America honors after placing sixth at the NCAA Championships.
