Andy Fox

Head Coach

Fox is a proven recruiter and outstanding coach.  According to Batten, I have full confidence that Coach Fox will continue to build on the St. Andrews Baseball tradition.  He has a great mind for baseball and is well regarded by coaches within the Appalachian Athletic Conference and throughout the region. I would like to thank Athletic Director Batten for giving me this opportunity, said Fox. I would also like to thank Drew Roberts for hiring me as his recruiting coordinator in the fall of 2012, making me a part of the St. Andrews family. We have worked hard to make St. Andrews Baseball successful on and off the field. I am ready to get started and very excited for the future of Knights baseball. Prior to joining the Knights coaching staff, Fox was the Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for three years at Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, NC.  In 2009, he served as Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Coach at WCC. Prior to coaching at Wilkes, Fox coached at Watauga High School under Legendary Coach Pete Hardee from 2005-2009 where he was the Varsity Assistant and JV Head Coach. Coach Fox was also an assistant coach for Taylorsville Post 170 Legion from 2004-2008. Coach Fox's resume includes being an Assistant Coach at Alexander Central High School from 2003- 2004. Fox was a former head coach for "The Heat Baseball Academy," a showcase team out of Hickory, NC from 2008-12.  Coach Fox was also the Head Coach of the Morganton Aggies in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League in the summers of 2012 and 2013. Fox played his high school baseball at Alexander Central, where he was an All-Conference second baseman in 2002. Fox then played his collegiate baseball at Wilkes Community College from 2003-2004 where he was the starting second baseman for the Cougars for two years.  After his two years at WCC, Fox attended Appalachian State University, where he majored in Secondary Education and History and began coaching full time at Watauga High School. A Native of Taylorsville, NC, Fox resides in Laurinburg.  joins the Knights coaching staff after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Appalachian State University.  Sandefur spent time working with many positions while on staff at ASU.  While assisting with the pitchers and hitters, Sandefurs main responsibilities were with the catchers and baserunners.  He helped compile a combine .696 SBA% in his two seasons at ASU. Prior to serving as assistant at ASU, Sandefur joined the coaching ranks shortly after his collegiate playing career as the Pitching Coach for the Aldie Senators who compete in The Valley League, a highly competitive Collegiate Summer League located in Virginia. Sandefurs playing career was spent at Western Carolina University (2009-2014). Sandefur was a pitcher for three seasons at WCU, compiling a 4-5 career record with 71 strikeouts over 38 appearances (19 starts). He suffered a devastating shoulder injury prior to his junior season that limited him to just 13.2 innings of work over the next two years (2012 and 13). Plagued by the shoulder woes, Sandefur made the transformation to designated hitter as a fifth-year senior in 2014 and became one of the Southern Conferences most feared hitters, batting .310 with five doubles, a home run and 13 RBI in just 84 at-bats. Despite the limited playing time, he was named second-team all-state by the North Carolina Sports Information Association and was one of 80 players on the initial watch list for the 2014 Gregg Olson Breakout Player of the Year Award. He also served as a team captain as a senior. Sandefur was not only a standout player for WCU but also for his summer collegiate teams.  In 2011 Sandefur had the honor to compete in the famous Cape Cod Summer League reserved for the top collegiate players in the country.  Sandefur played with the Falmouth Commodores and by the end of the summer he was ranked in the top 100 prospects of the Cape Cod League.  In 2010 and 2013 was voted the Cy Young Award and Top Prospect for The Valley League in Virginia.   A Mechanicsville, Va. native, Sandefur was a three-time all-district selection and four-time all-academic honoree during his prep career at Atlee H.S. Sandefur graduated from Western Carolina in 2014 with a B.S. in communication.     Evan Tucker is beginning his first season as the Grad Assistant on the SAU Baseball staff. Tucker graduated from St. Andrews in 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and has begun taking classes for his M.B.A. at SAU. Tucker is a former pitcher for the Knights and spent his senior season as the team's closer. Tucker is a native of Wake Forest, NC and currently resides in Laurinburg.
