Whitaker is in his sixth season as head baseball coach at Saint Augustine's University. The baseball program has become a league contender under the direction of Whitaker. Since taking over as head coach in 2010, Whitaker has guided the Falcons to one CIAA Tournament championship, two CIAA Tournament finals, four CIAA regular season crowns and 134 wins. During Whitaker's tenure, two players have won CIAA player of the year and one player has captured CIAA rookie of the year. One player was drafted by a major league team. Overall, Whitaker has coached 25 All-CIAA players and seven All-CIAA rookie players. The Falcons won 71 games during his first two seasons. In that span, the Falcons captured one CIAA Tournament title, two CIAA regular-season crowns and posted back-to-back 30-win seasons. In 2011, the Falcons set a modern school record with 36 victories including 24 conference wins. The squad reached the finals of the CIAA Tournament for the fourth straight season. The Falcons produced eight All-CIAA players that year including 2011 league player of the year Rashaad Ingram, who was the NCAA Division II leader in steals and runs. All-CIAA pitcher Brandon Stewart had the most Division II pitching victories (12) in the nation for much of the 2011 season. In 2010, the Falcons claimed the CIAA Tournament title and won 35 games, which was a modern school record at the time. Whitaker also guided the Falcons to the CIAA regular-season title with a 16-4 league record. The Falcons also won the CIAA Team Highest Grade Point Average Award for baseball in 2010. For his efforts, Whitaker was named 2010 CIAA Coach of the Year. It was an impressive honor considering Whitaker was never a head collegiate baseball coach before the 2009 season. Whitaker was the assistant baseball coach at SAU in 2008 and 2009. The Falcons were CIAA regular-season champions in 2009, and CIAA tournament runner-ups in 2008 and 2009 during his tenure as assistant coach. In 2009, the Falcons posted their first winning record since 2000 and won the most games (26) since 1990. Whitaker played baseball collegiately at SAU from 2003 to 2006. He was named CIAA rookie of the year in 2003, and was named to the All-CIAA squad in 2004 and 2005. Whitaker was a utility player, first baseman, center fielder, and catcher for the Falcons. He was a member of the 2003 team, which finished as a runner-up at the CIAA Baseball Championships. Whitaker graduated from Saint Augustines University in 2005 with a human performance and wellness degree.
