Lori Fish

Head Coach

Fish begins her ninth season as head coach of the St. Cloud State women's basketball team in 2016-17, and her 13th overall as a collegiate coach. In 2015-16, St. Cloud State posted a 13-14 overall record and a 12-10 record in the NSIC which earned the team a fourth place finish in the NSIC North Division.  In 2014-15, St. Cloud State posted a 16-12 overall record and an 11-11 record in the NSIC, which was good for a fourth place finish in the NSIC's North Division.  The Huskies charted a 16-11 overall record in 2013-14 under Fish's leadership and went 12-10 in the NSIC that season. In 2012-13, the Huskies scored a 19-9 overall record (the best finish since the 2008-9 season) and a North Division Title in the NSIC.  Fish, a St. Cloud native, is the eighth coach in the history of the women's basketball program. She is very familiar with Husky basketball as she was an assistant coach under Dr. Lori Ulferts from 1999 to 2004. In her first season with the Huskies, Fish guided St. Cloud State to a 22-9 overall record, won the 2009 NSIC Sanford Health Tournament Championship, and an NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament appearance. Fish has compiled an 11-year career record of 170-138. She brings 24 years of coaching experience, including 22 years at the collegiate level to the Huskies' program. During her career she has coached teams that have made six NCAA Division II National Tournament appearances including the 2008-09 St. Cloud State women. A familiar name to the St. Cloud area, Fish grew up in St. Cloud and attended St. Cloud Tech High School. Following her graduation from Tech, she went on to play basketball at South Dakota State from 1986-1990 and competed against the Huskies in the North Central Conference. Following the completion of an outstanding collegiate playing career where she gained First Team All-Conference honors as a junior and senior, Fish entered the coaching ranks. She started as a high school coach in Foley, Minn.,  for two seasons before returning to South Dakota State as a graduate assistant coach. She spent one year at NCAA Division I Eastern Illinois University and returned to SDSU as an assistant. In 1999, Lori Ulferts hired Fish as an assistant to the Husky program and she served as the recruiting and strength and conditioning coordinator under Ulferts for five seasons. In 2004, Fish became a head coach at rival Minnesota State University, Mankato. She quickly distinguished herself as a rising young coach and in 2007-08, her final season with the Mavericks, led her team to a 23-9 record and the championship game of the NCAA Division II North Central Region Tournament. She compiled a 62-53 won/loss record with the Mavericks.
