Mal Galletta

Head Coach

Galletta, a 1991 graduate of St. John's University, recently finished his sixth year as the PGA Head Golf Professional at the Glen Cove Golf Club where he was named the Merchandiser of the Year by the Metropolitan PGA in 2012. During his time at St. Johnrs, Galletta was a three-time first team All-District honoree, a three-time first team All-BIG EAST selection (1988, 1989, 1991) and a two-time team MVP (1989, 1991). Prior to working at Glen Cove, Galletta served four years as the PGA Head Golf Professional at Oyster Bay Golf Course in Woodbury, New York, and also spent time as an assistant golf professional at Wheatley Hills Golf Club (2006-08), Pelham Country Club (1998-2000), Noyac Golf Club (1995) and Villa Roma Resort (1994). A member of the Metropolitan PGA Tournament committee, Galletta has also served as a contributing author of golf instruction tutorials and information for Met Golfer, Long Island Golfer and Newsday. Named the Golf Family of the Year by the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association in 1994, the Galletta family has a deep history among the Long Island golf community. Mal Galletta IIIrs father was the first teaching professional at Glen Cove and set the then-course record at Bethpage Black with a 65 in the second round of the 1972 New York State PGA Championship. Gallettars grandfather was the winner of the 1944 North-South Amateur Championship at Pinehurst. Named the Golf Family of the Year by the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association in 1994, the Galletta family has a deep history among the Long Island golf community.
