Matthew Perry
Coach
Perry was appointed the new head coach of the men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field programs on July 15, 2013. The Bayport-Blue Point graduate also serves in the fall as the assistant coach for the perennial Skyline Conference champion St. Joseph's men's and women's cross country teams. "I'm really excited about this opportunity to help the program grow. I've enjoyed being a part of the cross country program and working with the athletes, so to be able to continue working into the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons is a wonderful opportunity," said Perry. Perry is a former track and field athlete at the University of Albany where he experienced a great deal of success as an individual champion in multiple events including a CTC championship in 1997. He holds multiple program records at Albany and gained a wealth of experience as he attended the university while it was transitioning from the NCAA's Division III to a Division I institution. At the high school level, Perry got his athletic career started as a distance runner and in the race walk. As he broadened his post-graduation experience, he was able to share his talents as a coach with several school districts including Bay Shore, Harborfields, and Mercy High School. He has also spent a considerable amount of time on the local track and field circuit as Suffolk County and USA Track and Field official. Coach Perry obtained a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Albany in 1998. He earned a master's degree in education from Dowling College in 2000 and holds a New York State special education certification. Perry is currently a Brookhaven resident and is employed by Eastern Suffolk BOCES where he teaches math.
