Glenn Nathan

Assistant Coach

Nathan joined SJC in the fall of 2003 to help build our women's tennis program.  Not only has the women's tennis program grown in players but has made playoffs almost every season and has been among the top teams in the Skyline Conference every year.  As the head coach for the SJC womens tennis team, Nathan has accrued an impressive 70- 47 record, including a 10-1 record in 2008, and a Skyline Conference Finals berth in 2011, which the Eagles lost to Mount St. Mary. Coach Nathan has also turned the men's tennis program into one of the top on Long Island. Prior to 2005, the mens team was operating as a club sport but Nathan revived the former varsity program.   Nathan is the first coach in SJC history to guide his teams to three consecutive NCAA tournament bids in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and the second coach in SJC history to win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament when the men beat Salve Regina in 2010. His teams won the Skyline Conferences titles in 2009 and 2010. They were undefeated in the Skyline conference with an impressive 21-0 record from 2008, 2009 and 2010. Coach Nathan is a three-time Skyline Conference Coach of the Year. Until recently, both programs played their home matches all over Suffolk County.  Coach Nathan describes it as "The Traveling Road Show". Coach is now proud to have our new home in Patchogue with six Deco Turf Tennis Courts with lights that opened in 2012. Before arriving at St. Josephs College, Glenn was the head coach of the womens tennis program at Southampton College. He was also a men's and women's assistant coach for Old Westbury. During his time at Old Westbury, his team won the Hudson Valley Conference Championship in 2000. Aside from leading the SJC tennis program, Glenn is a local tennis pro, and a board and staff member for The Bayport Blue Point Community Tennis Association. In the past, Coach Nathan was an assistant tennis pro at Miller Place Racquet Club, an associate instructor for Adelphi University tennis programs, head junior development summer program pro at Casino Country Club in Garden City and an assistant tennis pro at Old Westbury Country Club. While not on the court, he is a National Board member for the American Association Of Kidney Patients. He works full-time as a territory sales rep For Silver Line Windows by Andersen. Nathan holds his associates degree from Suffolk Community College where he played tennis and was part of the first team at SCCC to go to the New York State Championship. Coach continued his education at Adelphi University, where he was awarded a partial scholarship as a walk-on to play tennis and earned his bachelor of science in physical education.  Coach looks for players with fundamentals skills that can be nurtured into a well-rounded tennis player.  He believes SJC offers a great opportunity to play tennis at a high competitive level while having a local presence during the transition from high school to college. Glenn and his wife Denise currently reside in Shirley. He is the proud father of three daughters.
